Thanks, high praise from the BTS!

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

That was the hope. I spent more time with reference tracks while building Mix 3. Anything stand out as odd or “too much”. Thanks!

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

Ok, mix 3, a little more balanced, I think. Not as scooped and bright.

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

Spot on. Going back and hearing in different contexts, it’s a very bright mix. I’ll see what I can do.

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

I will say, Odi does make some sweet tunes!

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

I should have labeled the mixes, as there are only 2 mixes…I just clarified them in the posts above, lol! Sorry, I was just trying to update the original post as I replied to Odi. Yes, I tried to give a little more midrange in the latest of the two mixes, especially in the vocals trying to get...

Attempt to unbury the vocals…any better (Mix 2)?…

Original Tune - Come on in (Heavy Melodic Alternative Rock)

Wrote and recorded this one over the weekend. I decided to try to write a song backwards (I made it up on the drums first and retrofitted the music). I even pulled out my crybaby for the first time in years. I bought it in 1994, noisy pot but it still works. Still trying to get to vocals to sit...

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

Thanks, I really appreciate that. I second guess myself every step of the way so that’s a welcomed compliment.

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

Cool, I’m happier with it too. I really appreciate the feedback.

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

Ok, here’s a remix with the vocals more up front, and with the delay feedback removed to clear things up a bit. I also took the boominess out of the toms:

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

Thanks…it’s a Stomp Under Foot Pumpkin Pi in one ear and a Recovery Effects Mighty Grizzled in the other. It’s crazy how different these fuzz pedals sound and how great they sound together. I like the idea of some high harmonies. Maybe I’ll add a subtle octave up effect on the background...

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

Thanks for the advice! It was a good effort, lol! Listening back there are parts the vocals seem plenty loud, and other where they are buried. I’ll play with the volumes. Maybe I’ll dry them up a bit…maybe even throw on a leveler which I don’t normally do. thanks!

Original tune: Fair is Fair (Sludgy melodic alternative ambient rock)

I was messing around with a couple different fuzz pedals yesterday and put this tune to “tape”. A little hard to understand the lyrics at parts (delay and verbed out). I usually mix the vocals a lot drier, but it kinda fits the feel of the song in my opinion (big guitars and slower tempo). Drums...

Anyone else using the UAOXBOX for tracking guitars?

I’ve been very tempted to grab an Ox Box. I currently (occasionally) use a Palmer PDI03 (previously owned by Billy Corgan actually, I call it the Billy Box, haha!). It works great, but kind of old school early cab sim-ish hardware. Has anyone ever tried a Palmer with a cab sim plugin? I wonder...

Anyone else using the UAOXBOX for tracking guitars?

Oh yeah! I use my POD 2.0 to record all the time! The OX looks awesome and I’d love to try one though!

    Inhaler…Hardcore Punk about Asthma

Agree with the vocal comment. A little too much bite to it. I’ll dial it back a little. Also, I’m the first to admit I don’t have a killer voice. We all just get by with what we got! Maybe add more bite to the guitars? Bass, I don’t know…maybe add more of certain frequencies? The more I...

    Inhaler…Hardcore Punk about Asthma

Do you record straight to the external HD during a project? Or just transfer files later? Just curious if it slows things down to bypass the internal HD during tracking. Also, are any external HD brands better than others? Quick online search leans me towards the more expensive SSD HDs. I try...

    Inhaler…Hardcore Punk about Asthma

Listening again, and taking to heart your comment, I’m wondering if I should take out a little of the bite/harshness out of the main vocal. Might not take much to make it sound more balanced without adding more low end into it. Sounded pretty bitey and a little unbalanced in my car this morning...

    Inhaler…Hardcore Punk about Asthma

Thanks for the input! Definitely a challenge to get everything to mesh in such a dense mix. I kept going back to the low cut on the vox because they were fighting everything else. I definitely struggle with this exact thing. I’ll play with it some more! Much appreciation!
