    Tascam M520 Story...

Okay! I measured all according to above and all is to perfect voltage except the +15 and -15 DC voltages! (Pins 1/2 - 8/9 0 DC, 0 AC; Pins 14/15 - 8/9 0 DC, 0 AC)

    Tascam M520 Story...

And yes, we had 20-50 mph winds on Friday and a bank of storms that went from west to east later that day. Didn’t do much here but did a bunch of damage when they got to the flat lands on the east side of Arkansas and Missouri. I didn’t price any brown outs or power outages. Although we have...

No spare power supply, that’s how I got the extra console because it didn’t have one and they couldn’t test it.

Thanks for your reply! I have the manual with schematics. I have a multimeter. I reset the umbilical on both, opened up the power supply to check fuses. All were good and it looks clean and good in there. See pic. Where do I test the “rails”?

    Tascam M520 Story...

Hey, @sweetbeats, I hate to bother you with this but I really have no clue what is happening. I hope it's some stupid operator error. I've been running my M-520 for several years now, perfectly, only a few scratchy pots from time to time but never any issues with sound output. Last night I was...

    An inexpensive recorder for keyboards

Of course I realize you said "inexpensive" but I love the Zoom LiveTrak products. I've owned the L12, L20 and just recently bought the L20R rack mounted version. I use it on my synth wall to catch spur of the moment ideas in multi-track that I can then use on the computer to build tracks, if I...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

I had an Epiphone Les Paul Deluxe Studio plek'd at Sweetwater, it came back in worse shape than I sent it! It's more than the machine, it's about who the tech was and how much experience they have and care they take... they didn't much of either. I had to fight to get them to refund me. I...

TEAC 32-2B Tape falling from heads during play/record

I was super happy to find one of those “enthusiasts” that bought it for more than I acquired it for, knowing how to fix it. The Tascam 32 has been a good “pro” level machine for me in my studio. I have it connected to my M-520 console and can record anything that comes through the board in the...

    Should I Buy A Tascam 388 In 2024

I used a 388 exclusively in Studio C at the studio I worked at in the early 90s. I recorded young bands that couldn’t afford the 24 track big Studio A. It was fun and I mostly recorded them live to the 8 tracks (usually 3 piece punk pop and grunge bands back then, a few rappers with someone beat...

Tascam M 520 direct out issue

Just curious, as a fellow M-520 owner, did I just get lucky with my lightly used one? When you talk about the general noise floor of the console, what are you hearing? mine is super quiet, I don’t hear anything more than the occasional trim pot or assign button that needs a little cleaning. I...

Found on FB for sale: Tascam M-520 & Tascam MS-16

I love my M-520. I haven't even re-capped anything in mine and it's quiet as a mouse! I don't know what measurement your statement is based on, but I'm just not seeing it with mine. To each their own, of course. I only paid $150 for mine in near mint condition, so I guess I got lucky and count...

Found on FB for sale: Tascam M-520 & Tascam MS-16

Hey, thanks for sharing your story, hope you dont mind if I tell my own: I got my MS-16 in 2021 in a similar fashion. I paid $400 for it in the custom built oak cabinet with the DBX units and ALL mogami snake cables to connect it to the M-520 I got a few weeks earlier from the same older man...

    Tascam MS-16 Isolation Cover

That’s true, when I was recording vocals with the Shure SM7B, no problem but my Neumann TLM103 picked up everything!

    Tascam MS-16 Isolation Cover

Honestly I’ve never felt the deck plate while in operation. I know it’s got a fan on the bottom and lots of air space for cooling below it. You’re right, the best thing might be to build a fold up version of a “GoBo” panel, as we used to call them in the studio, to block the machine while...

Found on FB for sale: Tascam M-520 & Tascam MS-16

If anyone is looking for these fantastic machines, these are two very minty versions I have found. These are not mine and I cannot guarantee them but I have spoken with both sellers and tempted to buy them but I have a minty version of both right now! Check them out: Tascam M-520 in Fayetteville...
