adjusting levels of other musicians in your headphones

Hi. Welcome to the forums! There's a few ways to do this but, yeah, that's one. If your interface has multiple outputs then you could use a headphone amp with multiple ins, like that one ^, then you'd have to have a submix in your recording software. So you'd have main mix -> out of interface...

Audio quality from Laptop to Behringer UMC 404 very poor

If you're happy with your work flow and want to stick with it then, of course, that's fair enough, but, just so you know, you wouldn't need to match anything manually. That's the whole point of multitrack recording. You hit record and sing along to your backing track, for example, then when you...

Audio quality from Laptop to Behringer UMC 404 very poor

Two things then... If it's youtube you want the audio from there's no shortage of sites that let you download as mp3. Just make sure you've got good antivirus and popup blocking and, of course, no one is downloading anything they don't have legal permission to use. Goes without saying. ;) The...

Audio quality from Laptop to Behringer UMC 404 very poor

It could be that your interface input gain is too high, or the output level from your laptop is too high, or, as others have said, it could be pole shenanigans with the 3.5mm output, or just that the cable/adapter you're using isn't suitable. Since headphones work fine from your laptop we can...

New Song - Any Critiques Welcome (Reupload)

I hear what you mean! I think a lot of that is in the recording too. Sounds like distressors as far as the eye can see or some kind of distortion, but no doubt that's a singer who's 100% going for it too.

My mistake, you're quite right. Sorry about that. Great band, indeed. I'm sorry to hear that, about your violinist. I recorded Look on Down twenty something years ago after hearing it in the first season of Sopranos. Can't believe it's that long ago.

Mazzy definitely did it. Edit : My mistake - You're absolutely right.

New Song - Any Critiques Welcome (Reupload)

Oh, nice! What song, if you're not keeping it secret. Yeah, maybe it'd help. You can almost create the illusion of increasing the pace by having that '1 and 2 and...' pulse to follow.

New Song - Any Critiques Welcome (Reupload)

I enjoyed this. I'm getting Mazzy star vibes more than anything. I initially agreed with Odi that picking up the pace wouldn't hurt but now I'm wondering if just hearing a hihat or shaker at shorter intervals might do the trick. Listen to Mazzy Star - Sweet Jane to see what I mean. (y)

    Halloween '24 mixes.

It's that time of year again, folks! A few members have already shared their spooky halloween specials so why not join in and share yours? I thought I'd post this sticky thread to highlight some of your monster-mixes so feel free to dust the cobwebs off (or leave them there!) and share what...

How do they get waveforms this BIG without clipping?

As said the size of the waveform isn't necessarily important but, looking at your two pictures, the main difference is going to be dynamic range. Hard to say but it looks like the loudest peaks in your audio are nowhere near zero so there's probably room to turn the entire thing up a fair bit...

    Eq confused

I imagine Tascam know what a shelf eq is. Whether they explain it as clearly as us, with pictures, or not is another thing. Good luck.

    Eq confused

Tascam literature says all the eq options on that unit are shelves.

Maxman, slow down. Go back to the start and read over the posts. I've described it several times, and posted images showing what I mean.

Sure. My second picture illustrates that.

Nothing falls off a cliff, unless you set the gain to negative infinite or as low as it goes. All frequencies above, or below, your chosen frequency are raised, or lowered, by your gain setting. The result is something that resembles a shelf...long, straight, flat. It sounds like you're...

    Eq confused

The low shelf (low frequency shelf) would be the one of the left. In both my images frequency is indicated, rising, from left to right.

    Eq confused

The EQs I'm using here don't let me have a low shelf starting at such a high frequency, but what you have programmed in would look similar to this.

    Eq confused

I don't know that unit so I'm making an educated guess, but those look like controls for two shelves, or a two band shelf. Hi-F would be high shelf frequency - the point above which everything is turned up or down. Hi-G would be high shelf gain - how much it's turned up or down. Lo-F would be...

    Eq confused

Those are some of the least simple terms I've ever heard. :ROFLMAO: My picture has a high shelf boosting frequencies above X, and a low shelf cutting frequencies below X. That's two of the four possible shelf options. I could have shown a high shelf cutting and a low shelf boosting. High...
