For me, the only time I’ll use two mics is when I want to capture the room sound. A 57 on the speaker and a condenser a few feet away….blend to taste

As to the 16 bit aspect I wouldn’t worry. If it sounds good it’s good. And remember, CDs are 16 bit. They sound good :D

As much as I’m a fan of Analog, I’d never get one of these 2 inch machines. Just not practical unless you’re a rockstar, or running a commercial studio. For hobbyist purposes, my MSR16 is just fine and dandy.

Saw that. Lot of valid points. As to the longevity aspect I’ve lost more files due to digital storage than I have with analog formats.

Some years back, ( about 10 years) I saw a video on the tube that was pretty impressive. The guy was a musician, a tinkerer, and an experimenter. He multi tracked his band, and rather than doing a standard two speaker mix, he ran each instrument into its own speaker with separate power amps...

1st 8 channels are dedicated to drums. 9 to 16 is every thing else. Last 4 channels are for stereo effects returns or 4 mono returns. And with my A&H ice16 I can go to tape and daw at the same time. Edit: pic is upside down sorry. Not sure how to fix it.
