OK, I got me an SM57, and I'm really likin it...the clean guitar sounds GREAT, when I was listening to the playback it sounded very very good...now, my problem is with the overdrive. I have a Marshall VS100 combo, and the overdrive for recording is just too sharp and fuzzy sounding...I've got...
Does anyone know of any great (and/or popular) artists that recorded and produced their own music? I know the Beach Boys did basicly...with Brian at the helm. Any others?
OK, I have a stupid question...if I'm not using any effects, should I have the Effects knobs turned all the way to the left? After playing around with the playback of my tape, when I turned it hard left, it sounded SO much better; I got rid of a lot of the unwanted hiss and noise. Am I doing the...
Alright thanks for the reply...I know you stand by the MC012, Rec Eng, and I plan on using one of those for the entire overhead, and hopefully I'll get a great sound out of that. I'm still undecided about the kick drum mic so far.

Could anyone suggest a good, cheap direct box to record guitar? Would using a direct box be better than using a mic to record electric guitar? And do I hear the amp while it's plugged into the box and the box into my 4-track? Yes, I am a newbie.
I just got a 424 MKIII the other day, and so far I'm enjoying it, even though I'm lacking mics (I'll be getting a few SM57s soon). I was wondering what everyone else thinks of this 4 track? Is it really good? Could it be used to make good albums? Or is it too "low quality" for anything like...
Hello. I just bought my Tascam 424 MKIII and I'm really enjoying it...I'm hoping to use it to make small "albums" with my band in the future. I hear the SM-57 is the best mic to get, I was planning on getting 4 of those to do everything, and I was wondering if they are really good for recording...
