    Singing techniques?

I guess it fits in this forum, but here's a question for you singers or recorders of singers out there...I'm 17, I guess my voice isn't 100% developed (or so most people say that around this age it isn't), but I want to sing. I DO sing in my band, but I'm not that great...Does anyone know any...

    Registering a band name!

What's the most 'legit' and 'official' way to register one's band name? Are there any fees behind this (I wouldn't be surprised)? What if...down the line...we decide to change our name? Why should/shouldn't we register the name?

    Tascam 688 vs Tascam 238

Alright Hot Rocks, I'm up to the challenge...I kinda of didn't pay much attention to your 238 recommendations until I scoured around eBay searching for TASCAM, and I checked out the 238...looks nice. I managed to find a 238 FAQ on the net...

Boss CS-3 and/or noise elimination pedals?

Anyone ever use this Boss compression pedal? Is it worth buying...I play mainly rock, I guess compression really isn't needed there right? How about a noise elimination pedal? When recording, that buzzing noise when I got the overdrive channels on is really audible and annoying.

    Normal tape on fast player?

Alright, I'm upgrading very soon from 424MKIII to a 688...problem is, a lot of my recordings are normal speed, and I believe the 688 only has one speed...high speed. Is anyone familiar with both the units, and could suggest something I can do so I do not lose my recordings...is there any hope...

Help me make decision!!! 424mkIII or Digital1000

The TDM-1000 is only a mixer, you need something to hook it up to to record. I've heard mixed opinions about this unit as it is...the Tascam 424MKIII is an awesome unit though. I have one for sale actually, I've only had it for 5 months and it's in excellent condition, check out my post...

    Drums in Stereo?

Alright, here's the grand question...how would I go about record drums in stereo? This requires two tracks, one panned left, and one right. If I have 7 mics on the drums, and all the channels are panned left to record em all onto one track, how do I get them *ALL* on another track as well? It's...

    Evaluating Used Tascam 688?

Alright, here's the thing. I have a chance to buy a used Tascam 688 8-track recorder for $660 (that's with shipping included). This looks like a great unit, it even comes in a hard case. I am able to purchase it through iescrow.com, which allows me to evaluate the product before the money is...

    Behringer MDX4400 or MDX2200?

Hmmm, Musician's Friend has both of them at a $10 difference...what's the actual difference between these two units? The only one I really see is that the MSX4400 is 4 channel and MDX2200 is dual channel...is that it? And would you guys recommend this as a really good compressor? Ed has said...

    Matched MC012's

Is it possible to buy a MC012 now, then say, a month or two down the road...maybe even a year...send it back to Oktava to have it matched to get another one? Or is that just crazy?

    Magnet tar pit trap

I was wondering...do any of the magnets ever screw eachother up around the studio? Mics, headphones, and the 4 track itself all have magnetic elements. If they come in contact with eachother, does that ruin the equipment or anything? And on another note, when I get a "hot mic" (lots'o'feedback...

    Making Sweet Cable

So after reading around this board, I picked up that making your own cable is the best way to go for the best sound quality. Is it also the cheapest way to go? Where can I find everything I need to make the cables? I already am rather proficient with a soldering iron, so I know how to do that. I...

    Digitech GSP 21

Anyone have one of these? I picked it up for $100 used at Guitar Center, so far I'm enjoying it...everytime I've played with it, I found new and exciting features. Now for my plethora of questions: 1) It didn't come with the footswitch. Will any of the Digitech footswitches work with it? 2) I...

    Guitar Center Sale!

This weekend, a local Guitar Center is having a sale on certain stuff...one item happens to be all their used guitar rack processors. They have a lot of different stuff...two things I had my eye on were Rocktron compressors (which would go for about $50 maybe) and a Digitech 2102 effects...

Head Cleaner / Demag - URGENT

Hey, I bought an AudioBRUSH Cassette Tape Deck Cleaner/Demagnetizer from RadioShack for $10. It's a cassette with 5 little brushes in it on the bottom and cleaning fluid. Now, I've heard the stories of "You better use a good head cleaning kit," and I was wondering if this would be a good one...

    Greasy Thug

I've read about using stuff like Crisco to slick up the strings. I also use this Dunlop string conditioner. Does this damage the neck (fretboard) at all if it gets onto it?

    Vocal Effects Processor

Alright, I'm personally not for effects (I'd rather play straight guitar and amp without effects) but I've always enjoyed vocal effects. I'm looking for a really good processor at a relatively lower price. I want one that's very versitile allowing me to add a lot of different effects. If I got a...
