Can someone please tell me whether there is pre-amp in the MR-8? Also, I know that the MR-8 does not have phantom power, does that mean that if I were to buy a tube mic or a condenser mic, I would have to buy phantom power as well? KF

I'm currently using the Sherman DM-8712 mic for vocals directly into my Fostex MR-8. The sound I get is not very good. Has anyone heard of this mic? Any info is appreciated. Also, how does this mic compare to the Shure SM-57 in terms of sound quality? Thanks, KF
