Better or Worse Than Oxygen 8?
Okay I know this is closer to a toy than "Pro Audio" BUT I need something to trigger drums into Fruity Loops and write drum parts and ideas away from the PC. I was looking at the Midiman Oxygen 8 but the 25 keys and some reviews have me looking for something...
Has anyone tried the FL Pro with the "alleged" 64 track recorder?
I bit the bullet and paid another $29 to upgrade my boxed version of FL 4.0 to a FL PRO with unlimited upgrades and it is supposed to include a 64 track recorder.
What I really wanted was the Yamaha AW16G that I would use "as...
After having a very unpleasant , difficult and frustrating time of "unlocking" my store bought Fruity Loops - I am just not liking this program.
It is very time consuming, confusing and somewhat overwhelming with too many non-drum options poping up before I can even get a basic bass drum, snare...
Thanks to everyone who has helped with my questions on my 4 track (unbalanced) limitations and the mixer/patchbay wiring decisions.
After reading the 1402 manual completely it appears to me that there would be some flexiblity benifit in routing the mixer in my signal chain.
Two of wich are...
Well now that I have you attention I just can't figure out the best way to patch this all together.
As mentioned I have a 1402-VLZ PRO, a Neutrick Balanced Patchbay and unfortunately a Yamaha 4-track cassette that has unbalanced ins/outs only. I also have an unbalanced patchbay not in use.
(I...
Well I picked up Fruiy Loops 3.0 in the box at GC.
I loaded it fine BUT untill you register the product online even the CD loaded version is locked into "Demo Mode".
The problem is it WON'T LET ME register the product or get tech support until I register the product.
Can you say Catch 22...
Question RE: Software recomendations for limited applications.
While my goal is to get a Yamaha 2816 or a Roland digital recorder in a few years (short of a miracle we are talking 3-5 years)....I am currently in the 4-track cassette budget world and want to be able to move some stuff into the...
FYI I got two great deals on shockmounts this weekend.
Deal #1 GC had the Oktava Mk-012 listed on sale for $39 each with a list of $79.
I had $150 cash and they had an Echo Darla 24/96 (with TRS ins and outs) new in open box for $99. Not the BEST soundcard from what I have read but beats my...
I made an impulse buy at GC today.
Echo Darla 24/96 with TRS ins and outs to replace an elcheapo SoundBlaster PCI 64 OEM on my Gateway (moo) with a PIII 450MHz. Only $99 plus I picked up 2 shock mounts for my MK-012's for another $50 plus they ate the sales tax.
1 Echo Darla 24/96
2 Shock...
What ever happened to the "Name that converter competition" about six months ago?
The winning name chosen by the un-named high end D/A converter was to win a free top of the line newly released converter.
We had a lot of fun on that one but I never saw a post indicating any one won.
Does...
After much research here and with good advise from many here on this board I set out to upgrade my meager 4 track set up.
I never intended to mic much as I primarily play bass and guitar and use a drum machine. I primarily wanted to do some songwriting and use my lonely SM 57 for vocals when I...
Yo Green Winged Flyer,
I had two questions on the 2816 now that you have had some time on it.
1. It is advertised as a 16 tracker but I only see 8 faders for mixing. Do you use the motorized/automation feature on eight and have eight live faders or how does that work for mixing 16 tracks...
I need help with finding a simple, inexpensive and convenient solution for a wiring problem.
Here's my situation. I am stuck in 4-track (cassette no less) land for the next couple years (due to budget problems) but have aquired a few preamps, effects etc and am using a patchbay to route the...
I thought it might me fun to share stories and pics if available on any of us that have built any of our own guitar's and basses.
I will start with my fretless bass (Pic included). I wanted a nice fretless bass with neck-through body and a nice stained finish for under $1,000.
My solution...
I know we don't use Radio Crap around here....no flames please.
I have read several positve comments about a published modification of Radioshack PZM's. Tape OP had one and another home Recording Magazine had one but they are in back issues and everyone seems shockingly suprised with the...
Hey Gidge and anyone else aquanted with these two.
I have squirelled away around $300 for a much needed mic pre and am debating between the Joe Meek VCQ3 and the Audio Buddy DMP3.
I primarily record acoustic and electric guitars and bass (DI), drum machine and some vocals to 4-track cassette...
Has anyone done any DIY Isolation Cabs?
I got to thinking about it when I miked
my drum machine through a 2-10 bass cab and close mic's with an SM-57. I kept the drum machine direct out in stereo to tracks 1 and 2 and inserted just a touch of the mic'd sound. It really made it sound more live...
While I previously posted a Q regaurding track bleed and head alignment I have a new and bigger head ache.
I just wasted four hours setting up and recording my drum machine and working with mixing in a live mic to an amp for a more live and vibrant sound. Good news I found some good results...
Can Anyone out there point me to a good resource (downoadable preferably or web site) on DIY tapehead alignment?
My Yamaha 4-track channels seem to bleed Much Worse than they used to. In fact I don't remember/didn't notice them bleeding at all when I first got it.
Mucho Gracias in advance...
I am looking for input from you kind folks on the best bang for the buck in CD-R burners (for $200 or less)!
While I am only doing 4-track cassette at the moment I need a CD burner for computer back up now and plan to do some PC recording and mixing in the future.
Dragon had high praises for...
