would it be better to have 1/4" outs than xlr outs? cuz my DMP3 has the 1/4" balanced outs. why not xlr?

I read in a thread that someone prefered the B1 because it didn't add much color to his/her voice. To me that sounds like it may be lacking. I was considering the B3 but if this is the case I might pass. I'd like to know what anyone thinks.

Why is it when I press the record button after arming tracks to monitor the sound, do I get this wicked static/fuzz in my headphones? Any clues? I can't seem to hear it in recordings but I'd like to know if its there and and/or if anyone else has had this problem? Thanx alot!
