I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

LMAO! I would think it would be more like $200B/yr, considering 90% of the world population would be buying it!

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

Mine showed up yesterday. It will be about a week before I get to try it out. I don't have a Neumann, so I won't know if it sounds like one. All I'm interested in, is that it sounds good. If it sounds good, it is good, IMO.

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

Lots of companies will put your company name/logo on a their product for you. Some of the items my company produced were actually OE for several US auto manufacturers. Unless a company pays for exclusive rights for the product/paid for tooling, design etc., you are free to sell your own or to...

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

I don't know, maybe it's because certain companies don't allow their products/or retailers to sell in some countries. Back in the '80's I wanted a particular Icom radio that was not available in the US because of the frequency range. It was available in the UK and I had a buddy that flew for a...

I bought a crazily cheap 'Neumann' TLM103 and it's really decent!

Welcome deal was $12.76 USD to the US. Was going buy two but they would only allow one. Went back to order a second to see what the regular price would be and it was $20.21 USD. Still pretty good, but I'll just stick with one to try it out.

    Bought a 'damaged' Tele

I bought an American Telecaster Pro from the local Sam Ash about 3 years ago. It was used but looked like new. It even had all the paper work in the case. I looked it over and didn't see a mark on it. It was about $500 less than a new one and I asked the sales person what was wrong with it. He...

Vocal Practice - Weekly Accountability Thread

I know what you mean Max. There are some songs I have recorded and I'm very happy with, that I cannot perform live, because the guitar part and vocal together are too demanding for my skill level. But, maybe with time, and they say, practice makes perfect...

Vocal Practice - Weekly Accountability Thread

I practice singing everyday. If I'm in my car, I sing along with the radio or acapella. I try to sing songs that aren't really in my vocal range. Four or five years ago when I started vocal practice, I couldn't sing a lot of those songs, now my range has expanded and I can sing most of them. I...

    SM7db Fake Chinese

There is no such thing as intellectual property in CN, and you don't need the drawings to reverse engineer a product. All you need is an original product. Reverse engineering was my job for many years. Our sales department would usually get requests for a item, and if the projected volume was...

    SM7db Fake Chinese

This happened at the company I worked for. An item came back for warranty, that was a fake. All the parts were either made by us, or using our tooling. The substraite cicuit was made using our films. The only thing that tipped us off, was the microprocessor had a program revision, that we never...

    Recording... with limitations

There is a YouTube channel called Singit Live. They perform live in a small studio with multiple cameras placed to catch the action as they perform. The videos all look good. I have videoed myself with a GoPro, my cell phone, and my wife's iPhone. Other than the audio is sometimes not so good...

    Up for a new amp...

If you are going to work on old/tube gear, you need a Variac. Back in the day, my hobby was refurbishing old tube gear. Mostly tube AM/shortwave radios, Transoceanic, etc. Letting the smoke out, is bad. Which can happen if you just plug them in and turn them on. I built this Variac with a light...

    Up for a new amp...

Get an Eleven Rack or similar amp emulator. The Eleven Rack has 100 presets and you can customize 100 more. It emulates amps, speaker cabinets, and has all the delays and effects you can stand. It can be a usb interface if needed, but I usually just plug the xlr output into my interface. I dial...

Simple question: How many dB to record at?

The noise level sounded pretty low. I couldn't really tell if it would be a problem. And I know what you mean about outside noises. I used to just stop, but now I keep going. I always do several takes of guitar and vocals, and can use parts to fill in or replace mistakes.
