    When the going gets tough

"Feet are not to be sniffed at." Thank you very much for this  I've always been a fan of "Brit Wit" ever since I was a young child. Unfortunately we were not exposed to much. Dudley and Moore were a staple on Ed Sullivan, but that was about it. The older me met the Pythons in the late 60s...

:thumbs up: Music videos are just that. A video shoot juxtaposed against the studio recording

Is there a 'typical' eq and FX setting for a male vocal?

    Large Diameter Condenser?

Is there a 'typical' eq and FX setting for a male vocal?

PS: If you're trying to EQ your own voice? Don't. Get a friend to help.

Is there a 'typical' eq and FX setting for a male vocal?

I also just saw this same post on the Steinberg forum. Are you sure you don't have the NT1?

Is there a 'typical' eq and FX setting for a male vocal?

You might want to check out Capitol's Studio A in LA. Capitol Studios This is the ticket. EDIT: I think Cubase has this in it's reverb pre-sets (mine does). If not, Waves has it.

    Signature Guitar Strings?

I use Ernie Ball's, but just as test cases. I put 8s on an Epi Les Paul that I have. I dropped a set of Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90s into that guitar and was interested in what I would get out of it with the 8s. Meh. Nice bends, but not the crunch that I would expect from P90s. And I also have...

    Signature Guitar Strings?

I played violin and cello when I was in grade school. As I recall, the strings were gut. For some reason, I can't fathom metal strings on the 1714 Stradivarius violin that just sold for $10MM+ Stupid (but open minded) American! EDIT: Seeing your earlier post about the "Baroque" crowd, now I...

    Signature Guitar Strings?

I've used those. Also flat wounds. Very nice strings. D'Addario makes a good product.

    Signature Guitar Strings?

I have an Epiphone Emperor II Joe Pass jazz guitar. Naturally, I wanted flat wounds on it, so I did a little research. @Serendipity Records is right on with regard to hi end strings. I purchased a set of Thomastik-Infeld .012" flats. $35/set. I am a dedicated user of D'Addario NYXLs. I will use...

    Stereo versus mono

My two cents. I agree with @CoolCat for the most part. My style is to think in terms of a sound scape. I could record a piano on a mono track. I decide where I want it to sit, left , right, middle. I can dupe the track, EQ, compress, delay, whatever, and then decide where I want that to be on...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

Please. I've had more trucks... My very first pro band did a showcase in Manhattan back in 71 - 72? I was about 19. The "old man" in the group was all of 30! he was semi-famous. But I digress. I had a 1963 Ford van at the time that I bought from the telephone company. If you're old enough, you...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

Glad I'm a drummer who lost his way. Do you know what GAS is for a drummer? Buying Vic Firth sticks instead of Regal Tips.

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

I had no idea it would morph into this, but it's been fun. Interesting to hear the stories of people whose lives has been impacted by robots/AI. Just as an afterthought, I read a review of the PRS SE that was intriguing. Not that I need another guitar, but, WTF. I looked it up on Swe****er and...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

@Scott Baxendale, as business man, completely understands the Total Cost of Ownership, (TCO). The initial CapEx cost is a significant and a barrier to entry. Additionally, the associated costs: shipping, installation, training, etc., add another layer of cost. Then there are upgrades, upkeep...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

That's obviously the reason mass production guitar manufacturers use it. It makes for a consistent product that's perfectly fine for the masses. Every guitar player I know has a "go-to" guy for help. I've been taking mine to Rob for years. As soon as I walk in, he knows exactly what I want, and...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

That's not the reason, but it was a clue something was amiss. Look back at my previous post with regard to the "work" he did. I can buy the same guitar, new, for the same price. That said, I offered a lesser amount, As we speak, he accepted my offer and refunded the difference. Now I will...

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

Just as an update, the guitar arrived today. Beautiful, and absolutely SPOTLESS. I exaggerate not. Took it out of the case, all the strings were completely slack. When I got to the bottom 3, I noticed that the strings were wound backwards. BACKWARDS!!! I wrote the seller and expressed my...

I think we've beat this death to horse. Nice chuckle though for mid January.

To Plek, or Not to Plek? That Is My Question

That would save money, but there could be copyright issues. Ah, who cares. We'll tie 'em up in court 'till we're long gone. I like the way you think.
