I have Sonar 2.0 XL and I have Cool Edit Pro 2.0. I occasionally see threads on here about people using both, something about cool edit as a wave editor. If Sonar is powerful, why use the lesser Cool Edit?

When I arm a track, I can play my guitar and hear it back through my speakers. This works great. But is there a way for my to use effects so that they play back then as well. I know how to use them for playback but what about real time.

For some reason, I can only mix down to wma! Sonar 2.0 XL will mix sown to wav but when I open the wave file in windows media player, it says it is an unsupported file type. Any help?
