Been a long time...a couple new mixes (indie rock type music)

Thanks, Beagle! I was hoping you'd chime in on the theory. I remember reading an article years ago that literally everyone hears music slightly differently, so it doesn't surprise me that dissonance would bother some and not others. I don't even hear it as dissonance tbh, but instead more as the...

Something that sounded good to me (I kinda like VU and those older lofi sounds), but where it wasn’t so lofi people would turn it off. If my recording gets in the way, I’ll bring the band into a studio because I think this is the best I can do at home.

Thanks, that actually helps a lot. Our drummer is our singer and she simplifies the beats to sing/play at the same time (we record drums, guitar, vocals live in one take to give it a more live sound with room bleed that we like). She's also new to drumming...basically our last few drummers were...

Been a long time...a couple new mixes (indie rock type music)

Thanks, Dobro. VU are my biggest influence, though probably not my favorite band. But as an influence, yes, definitely. Is there anything wrong with the mixes where the mix itself is getting in the way of the songs? As a band we're trying to figure out if home recording and my mixes are good...

Been a long time...a couple new mixes (indie rock type music)

Oh wow, thanks so much, random dude. The song is about being a kid and hearing on the radio you had the day off from school. I loved that as a kid and wanted to make a song about it. That's my partner, Emily, singing! She does drums and vocals. I do guitar and sometimes bass and vocals. Then we...

    Snow At Midnight - Instrumental

That was pleasant. You should submit it for a movie soundtrack or something like that. Not hearing much bass...did you sub the keys as your bass? Just seems light in the low end but that kinda fits the style. Maybe bump the kick up just a notch to fill that frequency.

It's cool, man. Reminds me of Spiritualized.

    Indie song - Sunday Driving

Mix sounds good other than the very low drums, but everything can't be loudest, so maybe you want it that way? The bass sounded off the 1 beat (out of time) on a few bars. I love all those bands you mentioned! We need more stuff inspired by those bands, so keep it up.

    Waves WaveTune Question

No I do see the mono one on my list of plugins, but I'm using the regular one. Maybe I should write Waves and ask them, but I don't know how good their service is with questions like this one. I guess if nobody knows in a day or so I'll write them. Thanks!

    Waves WaveTune Question

Hey guys. I'm wondering is there a way to correct a few notes in the vocal, and then lock that correction in so no further corrections are done? The problem I am having is that I correct say 5 notes in the vocal, but then when I replay the song and listen to the mix the plugin is running in...

    LUFS Question

    Awesome, thank you.

    LUFS Question

Hey guys. I see the music sites want -14 LUFS. What if the ending of a song is naturally louder and goes to -12 LUFS? Will it be compressed by the music site? Are you better off setting the earlier, quieter section at -16 LUFS to compensate? Thanks!

    Manslick : Here's to beers

I just mean that reverb helps it sit in the mix rather than the vocal sitting above it. That's how it sounds to me. Maybe I'm wrong, though, but that's how I hear it!

    Manslick : Here's to beers

I'd put a tiny bit of reverb on the vocal so it sits in the mix better. It's sitting above it now.
