There's someone who lives in a town nearby who has a DOKORDER 4 track rack mounted machine (1/4 tape) for sale. What are your opinions of dokorder machines? Worth a look, or should i just concentrate on fixing my 2 track toshiba?
Thanks,
T
I have an old yamaha DP series kick drum. I cant find any info on it, but it's got a dark navy blue shell, and wood rims. With this kick, the wood rim require the drum head to be on in order to fit properly; when i take off the front head and leave the rim off to mic the inside of the drum, the...
Found this mic (EV stereo cardioid 7020) in my girlfriends basement. The top and bottom barrel swivel so the capsules inside (which are metal and large, pretty much filling the whole basket) can face opposite directions. I want to try this mic out, but im not sure what to make of the input...
Hi y'all,
I've just pulled this old Toshiba PT 862D reel to reel out of my folk's basement, and i wanted to use it on a few tracks for a special effect. It did not come with a plug, so i bought one at the correct voltage and shaped the plug so it would fit. The unit powers up (the VU lights...
I received a gift certificate worth $350 (CND) at the big music chain up here in Canada, (Long and Mcquades), and I need some help deciding how to best spend it.
My first objective is to get a dark or neutral mic. The tonal characteristics of my cymbals (vintage Zildjian’s) do not match very...
Im setting up a PC, and I have two hardrives available that i can use - a 40 gig 5400rpm unit, and a 80 gig 7200rpm unit. Should my editing software (wavelab) go on the slower 5400 drive, and the WAV files i will be processing go on the faster drive, or vice versa? Or does it even matter ...
Im not too familiar with SCSI talk so im hoping someone out there is. I've got a SCSI jaz drive that i want to hook up to my PC to move wav files over from my recorder. The PC is your regular run of the mill window's XP loaded machine that does'nt come with any SCSI ports to plug in the jaz...
Hi,
I know this is an older card and probably not alot of people
use it anymore, but does anyone have any experience or comments concerning the use of the M-Audio Dio 2448 with windows XP ? Are they compatible? I think there is a win ME/XP driver for it on m-audio's website, but i've heard...
Hi everybody,
Im finishing up some demo work, and i'm having a bit of trouble with burning CD-DA's: You know when you pop in a commercial CD, say, in your computer, and the track list and album titles appear? How do you get that to burn along with your wav files?
I thought this was the...

I have a chance to pick up a symetrix 501 peak-RMS compressor/limiter for 75$ total. I was looking for a compressor that would perform adequetly on vocals. Would this do the trick, or are there better comp's for vocal use for about the same cost ?
Thanks,

I did a search and found that a few people have this vintage mic.
I was wondering if there are any specific applications this mic is good for.... that you would choose it over any popular, inexpensive dynamic (e.g. sm57).
thanks,

I've been working on a project lately where i'm stuck with using an older laptop. This thing does not have a line out, but only a headphone jack to output the audio. My question is, will hooking up my monitor amplfier to the headphone jack (using a stereo to 1/4 mono Y-cable) cause any damage to...
Hi everyone,
I just got a new SONY CRX1950U external CD burner (40X12x48), with a USB 2.0 connection for my computer. My question concerns burning speed and audio/file reproduction. I did some searches, and I found no consensus (maybe because none exists) or new perspectives on the ‘latest...
Hi everyone,
I've got an older laptop (e.g. 3.5 years!) that i do some audio processing with (using wavelab); some plugins seem to really eat up DSP (e.g. waves RVERB), and if I've got enough things going at once, the audio gets 'choppy'. The computer has a 500MHz celeron chip and 256MB's of...
