Delay effect before or after amp? (re-amp box really needed?)

No I won't use the software plugin for drums beats, but a proper Korg Volca Beats, that's why I'm asking. To record a synth or a drum machine (not plugin) do you need MIDI in/out on your audio interface?

Do I need to record beats machines in MIDI?

Hi guys/gals, I have to buy a new audio interface and I'm thinkin to get the Focusrite but I'm undecided between the 2i2 and the 4i4, the difference is that the 4i4 has a MIDI in/out. Since I'm also thinking to experiment with some beats machines like Korg ones, in order to record with that...

Delay effect before or after amp? (re-amp box really needed?)

ok Great, since I need to change my audio interface as well because the one I have now has one input, I'm thinking to buy the Focusrite, I'm just undecided between the 2i2 and the 4i4, it seems that the 2i2 has no midi, and since I'm thinking to start experimenting with some beats machine like...

Delay effect before or after amp? (re-amp box really needed?)

Hi there! I'm recording some stuff at home and I have purchased a very cool delay pedal for guitar I would like to use in some of my tracks. I'm recording with cakewalk and and amp sim from Overloud. Now, I don't have a re-amp box in order to place my delay pedal after the amp sim in my DAW. Is...

SPOTIFY normalization, anyone has experience with that?

There you go indeed, so Spotify won't normalize anymore, Bandcamp never did. Does it make sense still to master at -14 LUFS integrated? https://newsroom.spotify.com/2021-02-22/five-things-to-know-about-spotify-hifi/

SPOTIFY normalization, anyone has experience with that?

Hi guys, so I'm having serious doubts about normalization in Spotify. Everyone says, and it's also written on their website, that you should keep your master at around -14 LUFS integrated (on average), with true peak set to -1. Now I have my master at around -13/-14 integrated LUFS, and...

Is my mix really that SQUASHED???

Indeed that’s what I thought, an eq issue rather than a compression issue.

Need my Master to sound louder

Ok thanks, to me the mix sounds a bit like in a box, and the master has more presence, but i pushed too much high end indeed and sounds harsh. To be honest between the unprocessed and processed mix, i cannot hear much difference, apart from the drums which sounds thinner, cause compression and...

Need my Master to sound louder

Thanks! I got the point, in the master I used some exciter triode on the High End, I pushed it way too much and caused distortion. Should be better now, I also have turn the cymbals volume down, Those cymbals were making the song squashed, but it wasn't really.

Need my Master to sound louder

do you mean the quarters with the crash? the tin, tin, tin , then it starts hitting the crashes quite fast, that's how it is suppose to be I guess?? the mess with crashes.

Is my mix really that SQUASHED???

Guys I I'm going a bit nuts on this issue, apparently lots of people told me that my mix/master is squashed to hell, I'm quite newbie so I can't really hear that. I just need to understand now exactly at which stage the issue is, I'm going nuts, I added only the drums track (processed) so you...

Need my Master to sound louder

There you go, I just need to understand now exactly at which stage the issue is, I'm going nuts, I added only the drums track (processed) so you can really tell me if the drums are that much compressed as everyone says, or if the issue is at master level, cause to me the drums sounds ok. this...

Need my Master to sound louder

Thanks for the precious tips, indeed I don't pretend it to be like the Mogwai song, I just want something decent, I recorded this with a guitar, headphones, an audio interface and a laptop, and programmed drums at home so.... What I'm trying to do is to shave those bloody peaks in the mix, kick...

    Using limiters on Mix busses?!

Thanks! Can you tell if also the Mix version sounds squashed or not? Just to understand whether the issue is at master level or at mix level https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v9bPy1GxTQsFVWAZK9xJO44TiL3KgQug/view?usp=sharing

Need my Master to sound louder

mmm ok thanks. So this might neither be the processing, because on guitars I didn't do any processing apart from some EQ, and some limiter with soft clip option to reduce some peaks, and that didn't change much the sound. The rest of the sound comes from the THU Overloud amp sim, I actually...

Need my Master to sound louder

Allright thanks a lot for being honest, I didn't think it was such a disaster though. Consider drums are MIDI programmed drums, and consider I recorded this album at home with marshall monitor headphones, one external audio device wit one input and one laptop with Cakewalk by Bandlab. That's it...

    Using limiters on Mix busses?!

Does it sound squashed or hot to you? It measures -10 LUFS integrated, but for me I would make it a little bit louder, maybe 2 or 3 dbs louder, but I'm not sure whether is already hot or not. The master limiter ,as it is now, it's showing me a gain reduction of -2/-3 db on average, so if I raise...
