so I have an old laptop and my friend hooked me up with his cool edit pro software and I'm really excitied to get recording! I may be able to get a Shure SM57 for a decent price, but is there anything else I would really need? will this mic just plug right into my computer?

I imported a track into cubase but now where is the patch menu to select from? i cant find it and it makes me feel very dumb :mad:

is it possible? i know powertabs exports songs as a midi format and then could I open this recording in Cubase and make it sound like a synth or piano? if so how would I go about doing this? im sorry for such a new guy question I just started. also my english isnt very good so sorry for that...
