I have a few older units in my rack and can't find info in the manuals about whether or not the 1/4" connections are balanced or unbalanced. I was hoping I could find an easy way to tell without having to open them up (I'd have to take them out of the rack), and I saw this on a forum...

Curious if anyone has any insight on this. I've gotten into synths a good bit over the past 10 years (guitar is my main instrument), and I've been curious about the typical workflow that bands used in the 80s for a song with a prominent synth track, whether it's a bass line, arpeggios, etc...

Nice tune. IMHO, the lyrics are very nice, but they aren't fully done justice by the melody, which kind of seemed like an afterthought almost. This was most evident in the second half of the phrases, which just hung out on the same note the whole time ("I did not know how to respond," etc.)...

As others have mentioned, great playing throughout, and the recording is very nice as well. It was an enjoyable listen. My only nit is that it kind of got a little monotonous after a bit. I would have enjoyed a hummable melody or a more noticeable identifiable hook somewhere. But overall...

I was able to sync two ADATs without issue in the late 90s. I don't know if three makes it harder, but we had no issues syncing our two, FWIW.

You mention the fact that it's a Portastudio as if that's a detractor somehow. I'm not sure what you mean. Why is the Tascam Model 24 not a good DAW-less option?

Great job, very cool groove, and great performances all around. Really the only thing that bugs me is the vocal treatment. They don't seem to mesh with the rest of the mix very well, IMO. They don't seem to be in the same "space" as the rest of the band. That's just my .02, obviously.
