Thanks so much for the listen and the kind words! 🙂

Would you pay $60 to watch Grammy "nominee" Marc Daniel Nelson mix a full song in real time?

Exactly. 😉 Those YT channels are usually pretty full-time jobs, especially at their level.

    high Octane Guitar Instrumental; "Silverstone"

Nice playing! First impression is that it sounds overall a bit dry for this style. Also, the transition at 2:58 sounded fairly abrupt. Sounds as though the downbeat was maybe a bit late or something there? Or maybe the drum fill leading into it is rushed. Something sounds not smooth there...

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

Thanks much for the listen and comments. This is not an original; it's a cover of a Fleet Foxes song. The acoustic is actually panned a bit left, but not too severely - maybe about 40% L.

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

Damn ... I've had all kinds of issues with this. It'll seem fine, and then all of the sudden, I'll notice a timing issue. 😐 Thanks for pointing it out!

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

Thanks for the feedback! You're right about the panning of the mando and fiddle - I didn't even think of that! I didn't notice any phase issues. I did try flipping the polarity both ways, but the difference was pretty negligible.

Mykonos (Fleet Foxes cover) - Folk Rock

@mark skinner Thanks so much for the listen and the kind words. Yes, they are a great band! @BTStudio Thanks! @Papanate Thanks for the listen! Yes, I did use both of those things, but I think it's just mainly the instrumentation. There's no bass guitar, so, other than the Djembe drum, there's...

I hope it's ok that I make this point

I think this is a great question and a good discussion to bring up. I don't see it as a skeptical, cynical view; it's just that, as you mentioned, the lines of "creativity" and "authorship" are being blurred more and more all the time. I remember a thread in here a while back where someone said...

    Any jazz horn players?

Hey y'all, I couldn't really find a good spot for this thread, so please feel free to move it mods. I'm looking for some horn players to collaborate on a jazz tune I've written. It's in the modal jazz vein, similar to Kind of Blue-era Miles. I'm looking for a trumpet and tenor/alto sax to play...

"Something in the Woods" - Indie folk

@TripleM Thanks for the listen and comments. That's another vote for less verb; I'll definitely give that a shot. I agree about the kick and will see if I can add a bit of girth. @dobro Thanks much for the listen and the kind words. The drums are EZDrummer 3. That's the Indie kit played with...

"Something in the Woods" - Indie folk

@DM60 Thanks for the listen and the comments! Good stuff to try. @Thekesslerboy Thanks for the kind words. I have tried all kinds of things with regard to the arrangement and instrumentation - both for the intro parts and the percussion bits. Still kind of experimenting really. We do play this...

Catchy tune, and nice performances. I agree with DM60 that it might be a tad on the dry side. Fun song.

New Original Tune - I’ll get my shoes (rock/alternative/shoegazey?)

Just listened to mix 4. I didn't hear too much that sounded out of place. Nice performances all around and cool guitar sound. My only comment would have to do with the arrangement - just seemed a bit monotonous to me. But maybe that's common with this genre? I'm not too familiar with shoegaze...

    - Fast Car - Tracy Chapman cover -REMIX 2-

Very nice cover of this one. I liked the sounds and tones all around - no real nits there. The only things I noticed were that the vocals got just a little pitchy here and there on a word or two and that the programmed drum part at the choruses sounds a little clumsy. It kind of seems to miss...

    Rock track - "Shade Fails"

@Flyguitarfish Thanks much! I'll look at the guitar solo level. @Bulls Hit Thanks for the listen. That's a good idea on the vocals; I'll give it a shot. ?
