Computers are much more powerful now than even a year ago. Some people here have been recording for a long time on PCs. I first recorded on a 500MHz Duron with maybe 512 MB ram and a cheapo mobo. What's the slowest computer that worked for you?

My friend the jazz saxophonist came over and recorded a solo over an Aeberesold track. This was recorded in the treated room with a spaced pair of MSH SDC omnis into the PCMCIA Soundblaster and Cubase. A bit of Pantheon and compression, too. Please listen here. Thanks! Oh, btw, he's nineteen.

So an Alesis MultiMix 8 FireWire is a 8 in FireWire interface. With rebate, it's $250. Anybody got experience with one of these?
