    You basically have the tools required to do a pretty decent mix with. Try all 3 (experimentation is the key to success)Also, try different mic placments to determine the sound you would like to capture. Good luck.

    Your set-up sounds good to me. IF you have your toms tuned to the pitches you are satisfied with,the ocktava, would work well with this set-up. In the final analysis,your ears will be the judge.

    I tried the exaxt same thing and blew out one of my speakers in my fender twin reverb. Yet upon lowering gain just prior to clipping the sound was clean and brite!
