Due to my previous frustration and failure at building a computer dedicated to my music I have decided that now is a good time to enlist the help of my fellow musicians. My K62 -500, 128mb ram, 10gb & 40gb hard drives, sblive soundcard, WinME and sonar just ain't cutting it. I have been...
What I want to do is mic a keyboard amp? Now, is there different mics for miking guitar amps, bass guitar amps, and keyboard amps? Or will one mic do the trick for all types of amps. I am looking in the $600 or less range. Any help would be appreciated...
Thanks,

Has (does) anyone record their keyboard using an amp and mic instead of just going line in straight into a mixer? I'm curious about a good mic and amp combo for trying this out...

Ok, I have two hard drives in my computer, one 10gb for apps and a 40gb for audio. I have changed the settings for my swap file to equal 2.5 times the amount of ram in my system. My question is this: Which drive should my swap file be on, the app drive or the audio drive?
Thanks,

Is "bouncing to tracks" supposed to help with dropouts? Is that why it's here? Am I wrong in thinking that it would help because, I haven't noticed a difference, but I don't know. Also, how do you control the volume of your tracks after you bounce them? Does anyone have this problem? After...
I believe this is possible, but I am confused with with the MTC/SMPTE Midi clock stuff. Which program should be master/slave? What I want to do is use sonar for my midi and I am trying out Sound Forge (I am using the demo version) for the audio stuff. I have a Pocket Express Midi Flyer for my...

Okay, I am looking to upgrade my midi interface. I am currently using the MOTU Pocket Express. It's a pretty good interface. 2 ins 4 outs, plus the bypass option which allows me to play my midi gear without having my computer on. The other functions I currently don't have a use for at this...
Is there any way to customize the bpm on some of the loops on the Hip Hop Q Card? I know that some of the loops' bpm will change with the movement of the slider, but I don't know what the actual bpm. Or do I need to start looking for a sampler? I posted this question about a month ago in the...

I use the speakers that came with my computer to monitor my tracks. They are real crappy. I find having to use my headphones a lot, but I feel I am still not hearing my mixes as good as I can be. I am planning on getting some real monitors real soon, but my question is this: Will the...
I have a K62 AMD 500mHz computer with 128mb of RAM. I have the Soundblaster Platinum Live with the Live Drive 1. I am running Cakewalk 9. I use my computer speakers to monitor or a set of headphones plugged into the mixer. I have a Behringer MX802a mixer (mistake #1, Misterque, sometimes I...
I am ready for your criticism. The song that I would like you all to lend an ear to is called "SEU". I appreciate any advice on the mix the tune or whatever.... It's the second song on the page. Thanks in advance...

Anyone with a Behringer DSP1000p Virtualizer Pro? Has anyone got the vocoder to actually work? I have been playing with mine for a couple of months now. I'm trying to get a sound like Roger in the song "Computer Love" or what Cher did on the song "Do You Believe in Love". I hope I am using...
I plan to take my songs to a studio that uses Cubase. I of course use Cakewalk along with my QS6.1, DM5, and Virtualizer DSP1000Pro. What I am trying to do is avoid lugging my whole computer station to the studio. Now, when I save my songs as .mid I can save them as sequences to SRAM cards...
I have an Alesis QS6.1, DM5 and a DSP1000 Virtualizer Pro. I am using Cakewalk 9, I have QSEditor Pro from Soundtower, and I am attempting to use Soundbridge. I believe saving SysEx data/banks is at the root of the answer to my problem, BUT, I don't think I'm quite understanding what I am...
This is probably really basic. I have a QS6.1. I mainly use the multitimbral mix to input music into Cakewalk. I have an SRAM card (512) and a Flash Ram card (8mb). I want to save those multitimbral mixes as a mix such as "Jam 1". I believe it is possible to save those mixes. Right or...
I believe I built the instrument definition file correctly for the Virtualizer DSP1000 Pro. I believe I have all the information I need to succeed as well (Midi Implementation chart, etc.), but I am missing something (learning curve). I am confused on how to insert events. I have the DSP1000...
