    the fender stratocaster is perfect.

let's face it, in the 50+ years it's been around they have tried to copy it, modify it, improve it, turn it upside down, change it's pu lay out, more frets, turned it in to a semi-hollow, scalloping, ... but the moment you hold a real fender stratocaster you know it : leo fender was a genius...

    low B intonation

when setting up my esp baritone i have to move the low B strings saddle all the way to the back to get the intonation right, and even then it only sounds halfway decent. i know this is a well known problem but could someone explain to me why there's such a difference to the other strings...

    cheap guitars are better?

simple : how many of you play a 200$ or less guitar that they prefer to the 1200$ strat standing in the corner collecting dust. i play a pacifica that i payed 80$ (!) on all my gigs, even though i have 10 other guitars.

    standard grounding/shielding

QUESTION : all fenders seem to require additional shielding and/or grounding so why aren't all fenders standard equipped with it??? they've been making single coil pu guitars for 50 years now, so they should be aware of the problem?

i listen a lot to baroque music, bach being one of my favorits. when i open the cd of for instance his violin concerto in Amin (recorded by the bach collegium japan - engineerd and produced by dirk lüdemann) the levels are down to -2 and the dynamics of the recordings are awesome - too bad it's...

    bob dylan

does any one know which microphone was used on bob dylans 'lay lady lay' (album version). i've always liked the way his voice sounds on that recording, deep and wit a tremendeous low end but i can't find more about it any where on the net nore came across it in any of the books i read about him.

    boundary mikes

does anyone ever use pzm's or the boundary effect with ordinary omni's? the reason i'm asking is because i find them usefull for recording ambient noises - they actualy capture less sounds more accuratly, you could say they leave out the room - but haven't come across them on this forum.
