pops in recording and lock up

I occasionally get little pops on my cakewalk pro audio 9 recordings even though I think the levels are good. How can I get rid of this. Also, does anyone else ever have problems with your computer locking up only while using cakewalk. I've got a pentium 4, 1.3 Gig and CW is the only thing...

    2nd hard drive

Is a 2nd hard drive really that important or can I do just as well with one really big 7200 rpm hard drive?

    processor

AMD thunderbird or intel pentium? What's best? AMD's a little cheaper which is great in my book, but are they at all problematic. The guy at my local computer store said AMD outperforms intel.

    mia

I'm trying to record my xv-88 into my mia soundcard and things sound great, but for some reason I can only hear what I'm playing on playback. I can't hear what I'm playing while I'm playing it. adding s/pdif output

Is there a way to add an s/pdif output to a synth? I've got a Roland xv-88 (no s/pdif output) and just bought the echo mia, which has s/pdif i/o, and I'd like to record to it without going through analog converters.

    xv-88 - recording to sequencer

Just got a new xv-88 and cakewalk pro-audio 9. I'm new to recording on my computer. Do I need a new sound card to do it if I'm only recording the xv-88 sounds in layers? Anyone had any luck finding a cable to connect your xv-88 using the "convenient computer cable output?"

    computer cable

Has anyone tried connecting the xv-88 to their computer via the serial port? If so, where did you you get the appropriate cable? I can't find it. Thanks in advance.

    recording the xv-88

I just got a Roland xv-88 and I love it. I also got cakewalk 9 and thought I would be ready to start recording. All I want to do is record sounds from the xv-88 in layers onto cakewalk, but I admittedly suck at this and don't know what I'm doing. I tried to connect midi into my soundcard but...
