    Warm WA47Jr first test

I thought the SP sounded the most balanced, I liked it the best. Nt1 was the warmest and had the least of what I would call high pitch/string noise. The Warm Jr. was a little too bright but sounded ok. None sound bad, they are just different.

Today Is Gonna Be My Day

I finally got the file of the everything tuned and centered version to down load. Good song, very clean guitar. I see what you mean about the vocals and the harmonies being out. It just takes a little tweaking, I'm sure you will get it sorted out. I'm looking forward to hearing the final version.

Today Is Gonna Be My Day

I'm in a low data cell area so I haven't listened to your song yet. I can give you a little insight into using Melodyne, which I've been learning for the last few months. Unless you are a whole lot better singer than me, I find that snapping notes to the key with pitch and drift centering...

    DR-40 and DP-008EX Recording Questions

I have a ECM-8000 and MXL V67g. I use the 8000 for acoustic guitars and the 67g for vocals.

    DR-40 and DP-008EX Recording Questions

I started out with a DP-008EX. The internal mics are ok, I had much better results with an external mic though. Yes, if I understand you correctly you can play back one track and record another. You can down load the manual for the DP-008EX, it tells you how to do it.

If you are going to reverse engineer a microphone, get a sample. You need an OE version of that mic. I know it can be expensive, but that's the way it works. It's not really necessary to make things at the component level such as a capsule. I'm sure there are a lot of companies in CN making...

Recording SM7B for live broadcast and podcast

A podcaster I watch uses a SM7B and he speaks in a normal voice about 12" from the mike. He doesn't appear to have any room treatment as it's looks like an office. Sounds good to me. If you have a constant background noise like a computer or fan, you can use a plugin to remove it. I use Reaper...

    microphone-parts.com

I'd be very much surprised if the whole thing was more than $50 worth of parts. Everything except the housing and capsule is less than $10. The housing and capsule is probably purchased from a company that makes microphones, or out the backdoor from their suppliers and they put their brand on...

to make them disappear, can I ‘’bury’’ vocals under an instrumental melody which I will create for this purpose??

I've had success using iZotope RX8 to remove vocals from commercial song tracks. I've also used it to improve an old two track recording of a band I was in back in the '80's. You can break out the percussion, bass, other instruments (guitars in my case), and vocals, and remix them to a small...

4 track bouncing (someone please explain)

There are so many forums and websites, it's very difficult and time consuming to find an answer searching each site. Maybe that's all that was available back in the OP's day. Now days, Google searches them all. Finding the right search term is the hard part if you don't know what a process or...

    What is too loud?

I listened on some ear buds so the bass response is not good, but I didn't think the vocals were too loud. Sounded about right to me.

    Tascam 008ex

Pull the SD card out and plug it into your computer. Use a card reader if your computer doesn't have a SD port. That's the way I get the files from my Tascam to my computer.

I'm looking for a good starter vocal mic for under $300 USD - is it possible?

Read the Harvey Gerst thread that grimtraveller linked. I got the ECM-8000 and MXL V67g about a year ago. I use the 8000 for acoustic guitars and the 67g for vocals. I may upgrade when my skills improve, but for now I'm happy with the way they both sound.

I just can't balance this mix

Good song, I really enjoyed it. The vocals were a bit over powered by instruments. I have been playing with a plugin called Track Spacer on the mixes I can't figure out and it has been working pretty good. Basically it EQs a space in whatever track you place it on using the input from the...
