    The process

Pull out your trusty sailfoam, and record your idea. I have even started recording songs I like to play when I noticed I actually sounded pretty good while practicing. "Hey, that sounds good. I should record that". If I take the time to get the computer and other gear out, I might lose the...

    Is the Mix Muddy?

The vocal sounds muffled or messed up somehow spantini. Maybe distorted? The version in post #3 was very good imo.

    Is the Mix Muddy?

Listening on earbuds, it sounds good to me.

Davinci Resolve - any users here at HomeRecording.com?

I have Davinci, but have only played with it. I use Vegas Pro for my video editing. If there is an audio track, I edit it in Reaper. Works better for me, I don't really want to learn another piece of software when I am happy with what I've been using.

    Acoustic Guitar Recording 101

I just started recording acoustic guitar with an X-Y setup. I haven't got into mixing the tracks yet, but I like the way they sound. I have a matched pair of NT5s, each recording to a mono track. One is pointing at the 12th fret, one at the lower bout, approx 8-10" away.

For us poor guys out there recording and mixing

I Think your singing voice sounds good, and Low End Crowd was pretty cool, good vibe. A song about gear you have or don't etc.... I agree with the other comments on the guitar panning. I've never really like the sound I get hard panned, and generally use about 80% left and right.

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

Yeah, my wife's iPad and iPhone record very good audio and video. I never thought about mixing on a mobile device. Sounds like GB has everything you need. A thread for phone tracks sounds like fun. I'll see what I can do later today, or you can if you like dobro. We have already had a worst...

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

GoPro cameras have pretty good audio. I've made a couple of GoPro videos, and while the guitar sounds really good, the vocal is usually low because of the distance to the camera that is needed to get video framed properly. I've used RX8 to pull just to vocal track off and do a little processing...

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

That's a good idea. I've forgotten how I played something and it's frustrating to try and come up with it again.

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

I was just curious at how good it would sound. Now that I have the position and orientation worked out, it will be easy to go back and do it again. I can see using the phone to record a scratch track. Vocals or finger picking sounds OK, strummed guitar gets a little muddy. With a little editing...

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

Thanks Odi, I like that it was pretty easy and quick. The only problem I had was the phone fell over the first time, so I had to record it again. Thanks markmann, using the phone to record ideas when I'm working on a new song is what I'm going to do. I don't have my recording gear...

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

I have friends that send me electric guitar tracks they record on their phones, and they usually sound pretty good. So, the other day I was wondering about using my cellphone to record a song. I didn't know how well it would work with an acoustic guitar and a vocal, but thought I would give it a...

    "American Wake" - Acoustic ballad

I have to say, that didn't sound like a rough version to me. Beautiful song.

I like the new version, the guitars sound much better. Thanks for posting it.

    Raise a Glass

Thanks for posting the song Guy. The part in the song "toast the people in the albums on your shelf", was very prophetic. Most of us have photo albums full of family members and friends that are gone. All had interesting stories to tell and we learn from them. They are the stories of life. My...

    Raise a Glass

I really like this song! I wouldn't change a thing. I sent it to my wife and she likes it also. She asked who the singer was, she though he sounded familiar.

Laptop Choices - Recording a Secondary Concern

No. I ran Windows 7 Pro on my work station until I got this laptop with 10 and decided it was a good upgrade. I learned during my professional career, to be careful with upgrades, they sometimes have side effects that can take days to resolve. When you work for a big company, the IT department...

Tiny room (8x15') studio with terrible echo. Simple DIY fix?

Try standing in different locations and face different directions. Don't face straight at a wall for instance. You will probably find a place in the room that works.
