this is a band where i'm playing drums and pretending to be able to produce music. We're called Backseat Bingo.

so i officially hate mixing this song now. it's been a pain in the ass. the vocals are really dynamic and the snare is really dynamic. i tried compressing the hell out of the snare to get it as constant as i could, and these are the results. i think there maybe clipping at about 1:15 or so...
Any and all critiques/suggestions welcomed. 3 songs of my own personal project that i played all the instruments for. there's about 6 seconds of silence before each song.

I didn't know what forum to put this in, but hopefully this place will suffice.
I have a friend who has a friend who wants to start a record label and build a studio. They seem so naive about it though. Then again there's nothing to it but to do it, right? I just was just wondering if...
how do you guys go about tuning a drum kit? i have a specific problem of too much rattling out of the snare (especially during recording the rattling snare sometimes fits well and other time is excessive) and the floor tom almost never sounds right. i'm currently just recording live practices...
how can add compression or eq to tracks via out board stuff? ie. i have a dbx compressor and i want to add compression to the already mixed tracks. i'm using a mkII2488, btw.
i know that you can use the compression within the 2488, but it's only applicable to 4 tracks right? Why did they make...
hardly even comparable
so here's my studio mind you i am broke!!! :) i got those rp5 monitors for $55 each! and two sm57 for $40 each i'm a deal hound. hopefully by the time im in my thirties i'll have a respectable job and have a studio half as cool as some of the stuff i've seen on here.
i got one of these
I am in your same situation although i have figured out what works for me. i have a two car garage, half of which is actually occupied by a car and the other half i use for my studio and rehearsal equipment. For sound treatment of the room there are two ways to go about it...
Everytime on a play back of the song i'm mixing there's a stutter. i think i need to upgrade my computer. i have to upgrade the RAM to fix this problem right? The program works fine other than the stuttering playback btw.
thanks
i'm currently mixing all my stuff in a tascam2488mk11 but i want to get into mixing on a computer because it sounds easier and more efficient. What programs would you guys recommend to just mix tracks. i don't want to change how i record btw i just want to mix on the computer.
Thanks
this is another older song i remixed. there are two distorted guitars on either side of the sound spectrum. they're both playing the same notes but with a slightly different rhythm and tone. i tried to mix the two guitars so they mix into a distorted stew but still be definable in the mix...
in an attempt to apply the things i've learned about mixing i remixed a song i recorded maybe a year and half ago on a 8 track portastudio. i transfered the tracks to what i'm using now and remixed it.

i read in some other thread about a modded sm57 that sound like or better than a sm7. How is this done? is a do it yourself thing or a pay a guy to do it mod?
An sm 57 has a smaller diaphram right? and an sm 7 is a large diaphram so is that the main change? i'm just thinking about it as i...
i have a hot rod deluxe and it keeps buzzing on the low notes. I'm pretty sure something is buzzing from within. i tried tightening all the screws i could see and it didn't seem to help much. should i take it apart and put it back together tightening all the screws or should i give it someone...
this band was called emerson and we recorded this song during the summer. a band member moved (less than a week ago) and he was best friends with the lead singer/rhythm guitarist and the lead singer just didn't want to do the band thing anymore once he moved. BUT i still really like this song...
I recorded this in my garage over the summer. All the instuments were recorded with microphones except for the bass which was plugged in. i recently found out however that a miced bass sounds pretty good. but i digress

i wanted to record my band practices better than i have been doing it by plugging in my vocal mic directly into my porta studio while also plugging it into the PA. i figure the only way to do this is to get a mic splitter, but is there another way? or is there a better way?
I also would...
