I'm trying to find a happy medium that works for me. When I set the playback buffers high enough to avoid glitches, all my moves are like three seconds behind (that's what latency is right?)
I'm just a little confused about where they should be and about how the size of the buffer effects what...
Maybe I should censor the bad word out but for now....
I haven't had the time to work on much lately, but I'm hiding away in my apartment for the holiday weekend- rommies gone! horray!! I've posted snipits of this tune before, I finally got around to tracking the vocals today. I should probably...
Is a SPDIF input stereo? I'm under the impression that it is but how? If it's like an RCA- wa? where is the second pin(terminal) or I guess it dosen't need it ?Grrrrrr..... darn digital contraptions...

hmmm....
so it's an analog to digital converter with a tube front end? What the hell? It seems like a good idea in a way, but really to me it seems like ART is just capitalizing on the home recording explosion with the idea that "tube" warmth is gonna make you cool or something. There is a knob...
Lots and lots of searching for a custom built computer, so far this is what I'm leaning towards:
PIII 550
Super Micro P6SBA motherboard
128 MB RAM
7200 RPM 20.0 GB Ultra ATA/66
50x CD ROM drive
Guillemot MaxiGamer Cougar 32MB AGP
56K V.90 Voice modem

WIN 98

The vocals aren't done yet, but I just wanted to see how this sounds to you guys. This is a 4 min. or so sample of "perfect crime/simon sez" mixng with the mouse is still pretty strange and I'm very limited as far as plug ins (I have the TC Natives demo with a few presets that work ok for me)...
I hope this post isn't too annoying...
Well, I haven't owned a computer since my good ole Tandy 1000 from Radio Shack circa 1989 (even it was Y2K compliant) Now I'm dependant on my roomate and the computers at school to even talk to you guys. But I'm moving soon (July) and I'm looking to set...
I'm planing to get some good monitors- I'm leaning towards 20/20's, but musicians friend has Alesis point 7's for $179 right now, which really has me tempted to go ahead and order. I've heard the Events and I liked them, I haven't heard the point 7's yet though. (hopefully I can get down to Mars...

so after about two weeks I'm finally happy with the solo. What you hear is three takes combined. Is it obvious where the takes change?
I'm not listening on the best monitors (far from it) and the mix...
Well it looks like in two days I will be the proud winner of a bid on a Samson Q3 kick drum mic. I do need a kick drum mic, but I was looking more for the AT pro-25 which is almost twice what I'll end up paying for this thing (and probably better). I'm getting a good deal. It's new and I'll get...
Doc's set up for live recording inspired me to think about getting a CDR. But I have a few questions on how this could actually work for me. On the demo I'm working on now, I ended up dumping the 1 track of drums and 1 track of bass from my cassetee 4-track into cakewalk, and then doing the...
Anyone ever tried/heard a Studiomaster mixer. I'm eyeing The Studiomaster club series C2000-102. For under $350 it looks like a good deal (and something that I could afford)
It dosent have inserts on each channel unfortunatly- that and the fact that I've never heard anything about these mixers...
I bought the 1999 Songwriters market a year ago, completely intending that I waould use it and start sending out demos. Hasen't happened yet. I'm curious though, has anyone around here ever submitted anything to a label or anything? I know the basic guidelines and stuff, But if anyone has had...
I have a vague idea about how these types of Eq's work, but I'm having trouble getting practical use out of them. (using Cakewalk guitar tracks) If any one could shed some light on the subject, it would be greatly appreciated. For instance I have A drum track (all the drums are on on track) so...
I'm using Cakewalk guitar tracks, how the hell can I mix back down to the hard drive? The "mixdown" option just combines all the tracks down to two stereo tracks at what ever level you have them set at, you have no control over the mix! what good is that? Can I do a real mix?
I'm...
It's only bad when I'm playing in my apartment-there are powerlines running right outside my window!! . I heaRd somthing once about putting tin foil to shield out some of the noise, but I'm not shure how it would be done. It's a thinline tele, so would I have to put it all over the bottom of the...
I have a mic in and a stereo line in on the soundcard that i'm using (I don't really know what the card is cause im dumb and it's not even my computer, a HP Pavilion) Is ther any way possible to use them simultaneously? I've tried screwing around with the settings and stuff and it seems...
Theres two for sale in a store near me for $1200 each. Is this a good deal? Are they outdated compared to new ADAT's? I don't have 1200 bucks but maybe if they sit there long enough...
They also have an ADAT with a gold face- What up with the Gold Face?
justanote: juston justsucks i can't even log in half the time! so I moved to idrive.
The tune is from "emerald city"- it's a semi-structured jam that we just LOVE to drag out forever- it's truly the band at it's wierdest and wildest.
