    Effects on computer mic

Is there any way to put the computer mic through a software effects filter? So I could, say, make myself sound like a woman or a robot to other in voice chat? That would be cool.

    Recording guitar w/multiple effects

I'm trying to record a song that has guitar being played clean in parts and distorted in parts. Is it best to just record using a pedal and get all the levels worked out beforehand, or should I use one track for clean, and one track for distorted? It seems like it would be easier to apply the...

    Welcome one and all

Alrighty! Having the first post here is a difficult responsibility. I can't think of what to say, and I've been toying with it for a few minutes now. First of all, thankyou Dragon for this haven for Minidisc users. It's sorely needed. I myself am using an MD8, which is a beutiful piece of...

Any MD4S users rec. acoustic guitar?

I don't think the MD4s uses higher compression than the MD4, or the MD8. I THINK it's 4.0? I personally don't think the compression takes waya from the sound much, if at all. I don't think you can tell the difference between a song mixed down from minidisc and any other digital media. -Nil

    Micing problems w/ MD8

Okay, this is one for all you MD8 users out there. What if I want to use a mic which requires phatom power, and a Mic whcih does NOT require phantom power on channels 1 and 2? I see two possible solutions: 1. buy a seperate mic amp an dont use the MD8's. 2. PLug the non-phatom mics into the...

Whats an effect that makes your voice really high or makes it sound like kids voice? I've heard artists use them, and I was wondering what they were.

    Quiet recordings

Hey, I've got a problem. My recordings are always a bit quieter than they should be, or as my other CD's are. When I record onto my computer, I get the input level right where it's not clipping on the loudest parts. Do I need to boost it after I get it on my hard drive? I'm using soundforge...

    Arggg!! HELP! CDR TROUBLE!

Okay, I just bought a TEAC CDRW drive (4x4x32). I'm very happy with it so far for burning MP3's and such. However, I tried copying a CD directly (i.e. from my cd drive (16x) to my CDR drive - bypassing my hard drive). And I keep getting errors a few minutes into the burning proccess. It's...

    solution

OKay, I don't know what your plans are, and I'm far to lazy to look (I know, youve heard that before). But it would cost EVERYONE nothing if perhaps you uploaded all the songs onto MP3.com and released a D.A.M. CD. You could have an artist section devoted to the compilation, and you could...

    CDR funky sex machine

Is there such thing as a computer based CDR with RCA inputs? If there was, then I could have the soundard bypassed sound quality of a standalone CDR, plus the CD authoring capabilities and versatility of a computer based CDR. I think my friend's work had an external 2x CDR with RCA inputs...

    Balanced to unbalanced

Okay, I have a few questions here: 1. What exactly happens when you use an XLR to 1/4" converter for a mic? Do you lose quality by plugging into a balanced input vs. an unbalaned input? Any help appreciated. 2. Why the heck are those converters (XLR to 1/4") so dern expensive. Seriouslly...

    Free mics!

I was just given 6 Astatic 827's. They are public speaking microphones, but I was wondering if there was any possible application in music. I found a specs page at: http://www.astatic.com/commercial/827_specs.htm if you have a few, check it out, and tell me what you think. I was thinking...
