    let me see your studio!

You just have to screw a light crossbrace between the top and bottom of the legs at the rear of the desk. Like this but you can just screw it to the legs:

    Bass guitar consistency

You know what, I am a bass player and sound Engineer. In the studio I play on a lot of other peoples recordings as well as my own band. Recording wise my favourite setup is to have a miced amp and a DI. Various amps and mics depending on the sound wanted. However when playing on other...

Home studio drum recording - eclectic, busy music, feedback wanted

Couldn't resist showing my low tech setup. The speaker holds onto the stand via the magnet, the wood block stops it sliding down. This subkick works amazingly well. Alan. Don't know why the photos turned 90 deg LOL. Also this was a temporary setup, that I put together about 4 years ago...

    RODE K2 With NTK PS

Seeing the problem was brought up in 2010 and again in 2014 I think they may have worked it out by now.

    Why do people interfere

On the weekend I ran sound for a presentation. It involved people standing at a podium, others having interviews sitting on a couch with handhelds. The room has diabolical acoustics, square room with a skylight ceiling dome, and a simple glass wall down one side with a loud hotel bar behind...

Home studio drum recording - eclectic, busy music, feedback wanted

With the Bass drum, I would forget the batter side mic, why not place the internal mic closer to beater skin. I tend to do this and also have a sub kick, I have a home made one with a 10" speaker but any speaker from about 6" will do it. The picture below that I found on the net is almost...

    Morgan Delt Mixing Technique

You could try a Cheaper Mexican Precision but make sure it has the old style pickup setup with the single split layout. Alan.

Annoying Royer 121 noise around 10K

I recorded a loud guitar cab once and posed a pic here to show the setup for the how to mic a cab topic, I got a bit of flack about placing a pop shield (vocal type) in front of the ribbon to stop it getting bursts of air and distorting the ribbon, it works. Alan.

Behringer TM1 or is it a Tannoy?

Behringer have defiantly not taken over Rode. In actual fact the Freedman Company, that also owns Event Electronics, Aphex Systems and SoundField Limited. The funny thing is that the original Rode NT1 looked like a Neumann. I own 2. Plus an original NT2 which looked even more like a Neumann...

    Mixer channel strip height change

Finally using reaper and buying a license, In mixer view is there a way to change the height (length) of all the channel strips at the same time. I have tried selecting multiple channels and dragging the top up but it still only changes the one channel. Also if you do painstakingly set up a...

    Tascam ATR 80-24

This is for sale in Oz, LINK I would really love to have it, but common sense says no, before you wonder about the price, comes with Dolby SR, Tascam Midiizer, Tascam IF-1000, MRL Reproducer Alignment Tapes, and many other things. I have no connection to the sale, thought you may be interested...

How do i get rid of electrical hum in my recording set-up?

I think of this story now when thinking about wiring, tragic. This was a government owned house and was very new and inspected. Just to explain how things can go wrong. Don't assume things are right, the noise could be a warning things are not right. Even a simple plug in tester like the one...

Recommendation for a budget mic louder than the Behringer XM8500

I am thinking that the jack plug mic input is a HighZ input and the Behringer is a LowZ mic. Try using one of these. Any brand will do. Alan.

just moved address, need help with boomy room

I can't answer that without the spec sheets for both products. I would assume that the same thickness would be at least the same specs. It could well be that the polyester is better, if it's te high density stuff like I used. The 50mm in that was very good, but saying that the bass traps in...

Repurpose Microphone Stands as Speaker Stands

Made my own stands for about $20 out of some ply wood. Solid ones too. Well, maybe more like $50 in todays prices LOL. Alan.

just moved address, need help with boomy room

I have said it over time on different threads, the product I used was made in Australia and has now been superseded but here are the specs as I am sure that there are products in most countries that match the spec. I used mostly 3 for acoustic panels and filling the wall and ceiling space, but...

    Gigs upstairs

Don't you just love gigs that are upstairs. Against my better judgement and because I wanted the money I took a booking for a PA in an upstairs venue in the middle of town, not far from where I lived. First thing is that you get there and there is no parking outside, so I double parked to...
