    NEW Guitar Project

@Old Music Guy At first glance I wasn't quite sure about that pickguard, but the more I look at it I appreciate the "sun spot (solar flare)" paint design. Pairing that pick guard and neck with a natural wood (unpainted) guitar body would be ideal. Sun spots

    Nylon String/Guitar Question

If push comes to shove because strings keep breaking on your guitar there's no harm in tuning a half step down and slapping on a capo.

    Nylon String/Guitar Question

I had a classical nylon string guitar a few years ago that I bought for about $400. It was a struggle to maintain tuning, but I loved the sound of it. My sister phoned me one day, years ago, telling me that she was interested in learning how to play guitar. She asked me if I could gift her with...

    Nylon String/Guitar Question

Exactly! Slipping strings don't all of sudden snap and break. Every tuning post has a straight hole drilled through it that results in a guitar string needing to make a 90° sharp turn which is just fine for steel strings, but Nylon strings do NOT possess the same tensile and shear strength as...

    Nylon String/Guitar Question

Great advice with the suggestion of drilling a slightly larger hole, but now that I think about a bit more, a small diameter shallow 82° counter sink on both sides of the winder post just might be helpful enough to alleviate sharp angles and sharp edges on the winder posts. Your thoughts?

    Ride or Die final mix

Par for the course, yes? That's a great question! It isn't often that an mp3 file sounds really good on my cell phone. So yeah, details on that would be interesting.

    Nylon String/Guitar Question

Stretch the strings - re-tune Stretch again and re-tune again as many times is necessary until any possible winding slippage disappears and they stay in tune. I doubt very much that there's a problem with the tuners. Nylon strings can be a bit finicky.

Anybody else bought a guitar for what it looks like?

Or somewhere between thick or thin I should have said, but never did I imagine reading... 1/32" (.030") thick veneer guitar top? Holy crap! Even within the furniture industry of yesteryears, everyone knows that veneer is crap wood that can easily become distorted and unglued due to variations...

How thick are the typical veneer tops on those overseas manufactured guitars?

Anybody else bought a guitar for what it looks like?

I'll leave it to @Track Rat to tell us if it's a single piece of wood or two perfectly matched pieces of wood.

Whoever it was that built that guitar top had a keen eye for matching two pieces of wood that are nearly perfecf mirror images of each other. 👍 I would've bought it for that reason alone.
