For what it's worth, whenever you are playing an acoustic guitar you hear it with your ears. You're not hearing the acoustic guitar listening directly in front of the sound hole, the neck, or lower bout. If what you hear sounds good to you.....record what your ears hear with two mics at ear...

A lot of it is dependent upon your playing style. EQ can be very helpful to have your tracks sit in their proper space according to your liking. Compression, on the other hand, is a different nut to crack and learning how to to use it properly. I've come close a few times....accidentally.

I have an AW16G that I record to. It's true that the manual could have been better written, but once you get a handle on learning the machine, it becomes second nature to operate it. Kinda like riding a bicycle.
