Well..... time to get to the nitty gritty on this mobile project, but first an early morning side project while waiting for parts. First was to attach a power strip to the floor of the rack. We will be moving it every time we move, so I want to be sure we don't pinch cords and things. Now onto...

    Going Mobile Project

Both you and my wife seem to have caught on to my shenanigans........ :) She also noticed (in a less friendly tone I might add) the studio growing. That however was the dry run. Here we are more to the finished project: It's my studio rack, bedside table!! Here it is opened up a bit...

Meter Hot lead to pin.... Ground to chassis ground?

I'm starting to troubleshoot the 244 and wanted to make sure I'm doing it right. I'm using a test tone and it says to attach the hot meter lead to the pin and measure voltage. I'm just making sure the ground meter lead goes to chassis ground. Thanks, Brad

Thinking out loud about tape speed and a Tascam 234 or 244

Even though I have issues to deal with, Tascam's 244 is pretty cool to me. The rack mounted 234 is even better (since people here have gotten me to think about a small rack system). My only problem is the tapes speed. I enjoy doing online 4 track collaborations, where people record a track onto...

    channel one VU meter

Here's what I was able to do. This is my test tone This is how I had the 244 set up. (If it's upside down, please click on the picture) . I'm pretty new to this, so If the setup is why ch 1&3 are quiet, let me know. What I ended up doing was moving the tone to different input jacks, then...

Tascam 244 eBay parts.... Buyer beware......

I thought I'd mention this for people buying parts online. I bought a drive belt and idler tires for a Tascam 244 who's belts and tires were goo.... The belt kept slipping off after I installed it, and the tires made an awful noise. Well, on the advice of people here I went to Teac and ordered...

I'm torn...... Tascam 244 or Tascam 424 Mki

Alright..... Y'all have got me burning up the Internet on this rack thing. I have found something called a IKEA Rast that people have converted into a rack. It would fit the footprint of what I need. Imagine it turned upside down so the mixing board would fit on top. A tape player mounted in...

    channel one VU meter

.......Well I'm not out of the woods yet on this Tascam 244. Testing out the unit, I get sound into the headphones, and the channel 1 overload led works, but there is no movement with the VU meter (the meter does light up). I don't have a 244 schematic but I do have a 246. Unfortunately, the...

I'm torn...... Tascam 244 or Tascam 424 Mki

I am looking for help. I now have two working portastudios here in the travel trailer. One (the 244), looks cool, sounds good, and is a little too big for the plastic storage bin where I keep it (and it weighs a ton....). The other (the 424), looks like a toy, sounds good, fits in the storage...

    Separate Bass and Drum Tracks

I record my bass and drum track off a computer or iPad ... Because of syncing to the tape, I record both onto one channel of the tape and put my guitar and voice on two others. Doing this, I can't edit the bass and drum separately, but I was wondering if this might work.... Buy one of these...
