Do you really hear jingle bells there? That's a bit of a stretch? It's clearly tambourine -- though... see above conversation?

Yeah, that's right. I recently got a new one myself which fit the sound I tend to like from a tambourine. I think -- as far as tambourines go -- if it's the sound you like, it's good enough.

I like a less "precise" tambourine sound, maybe a tambourine with more jangles on it? For lack of vocabulary, think of closer to white noise than sleigh bells? But again, it isn't a problem at all for this song. Good stuff, I want to hear more :)

I don't have experience with 5.1, so I can't help there -- but welcome, and as a (budding) video editor, your DaVinci setup is ???

Tambourine. On second listen it fits in OK in the mix, I think it's just not quite the sound I'd personally go for with a tambourine. Anyway, it works, so don't worry about it :thumbs up:

Overall sound/vibe is sooo good! One of the percussion elements sounds maybe a bit too prominently "jangly"? Otherwise sounds great!

This mix is IMO infinitely better than the last, let me know where you'd go from here!

Thank you for the comments! The vocal sound in mix no. 2 is clearer, with fewer mouth noises, but that's possibly the only thing I like better about that vox track. The original track was definitely better for pitch. I'll try the multiband for sure. As for mouth clicking, it's a huge problem...

Thanks for the listen James! I get what you mean about the different room sound -- but vox and strings were done in one room, while the piano was close-mic'ed, and the one reverb is on its send. For this mix I did not get it on monitors yet -- it's a late evening / early morning mix which was...

Hey guys, So I re-tracked the vox and piano -- real piano this time :) Diction is a lot clearer. I'm a bit dissatisfied with the mix though, and can't figure out what's wrong. I've tried EQing the typical "problem frequencies", but that didn't fix what I think I hear. So... thoughts? Also...

It actually makes for a fun effect! At some point I'll try to (intentionally) apply that effect to a track.

You'll have to drop the stems to a computer, produce a track in a DAW, and export a stereo mixdown.

Last summer -- back when I listened to a ton of Country radio -- I noticed 3 different songs about exactly the same thing (selling a truck because of memories associated with it) and they even had some rhymes in common...
