Just bought a DAV BG1, don't have the financial freedom to own two amazing preamps at the same time.
Like the DAV BG1, as you most likely already know, the RNP has a cult following. And for good reason, I'm not going to lecture to you how exceptional this thing is. They go for $475 new, I'm...
to say you MUST have a matched pair of mics if you want to make a serious stereo recording? I've heard time and time again that you should use the same model of mic if you're using two mics to record guitar or piano. I usually never use the same mics on guitar or piano. In fact I find using a...
I know that people here seem quite polarized about this thing and that there are plenty of topics about the BG1, but I have a few specific questions I'd like to ask.
It seems that everyone that has it is borderline fanatical about it:cool:
In fact, I was was just reading a topic over at...
I currently have an RNP which I love.
But it's becoming clear to me that I don't really need 2 channels for the things I am doing. I have heard the Grace 101 is ultra-realistic and that it is pretty much the most transparent pre in the universe, and I think that may be exactly what I am looking...
The BLUE bluebird
I didn't know BLUE made a mic in the $300+ price range
It's usually $349 but they're offering a 50 buck rebate till the end of this year.
Has anyone tried a Bluebird before?
I can't find any mp3's anywhere, but it sure is freaking sexy-looking isn't it?
I'm very...
I've realised it is a good idea for me to look into virtual drums because I will be moving into an apartment soon. I've heard nothing but great things about ezdrummer dfh and am very impressed with the clips I've heard from it.
But then I started reading about drumagog and realized how...
I'm using REAPER use lots of VTSi's and soundfonts.
After a certain ammount of tracks it gets too slow and choppy to be usable;
I need more tracks than my computer is able to handle.
Is getting more RAM the answer? I've got 250mb.
Thanks!
I am completely inexpirienced with drums in everyway. Recording, tuning, processing or playing drums. Luckily for me when I actually record a serious song, I'll have someone that knows how to play drums play them, but that still leaves me with having to record them...
Hey,
I've done one of these before, but have a specific question this time around.
EDIT: Not so much a question as it is a predicament that I could use some advice on.
Last paragraph explains the problem
First off, here's the MXL v67g going through an RNP into an Audiophile 192 into REAPER on...
I have no expirience with playing drums. I have a little expirience recording them. I've got a nice big room with 20 foot slanted cielings. I've got an FMR RNP which is quite a decent little preamp, and for snare I've got a 57 and for bass drum a shure beta 52a and I'm also getting either an ADK...
I have been using my new MXL v67g a lot, and thought I'd share a clip with everyone, becuause I am quite impressed with the good sound one can get with such inexpensive equipment.
This clip is a grand piano. I've got an MXL v67g($99) and an MXL 991(probably $49). The MXL 991 is that SDC mic...
I find strings, when first played, straight out of the box, sound kind of thin and tinny. I find that once I "break them in" so they are now "broken in," yet still new strings, they sound the best.
Does anyone else share my feelings? I know that lots of people like the fresh brightness of...
any free of very cheap mastering plugins such as limiters or compressors (not looking for eq) that people have found useful? I've never seriously tried to master my own songs, but I have enough time and interest now to want to venture into this new area, and would like to start out with...
I used to be totally on top of all this stuff.
When I released my album, I got each song individually copyrighted.
Had something to do with if my cd was "published," they had to all be individually copyrighted. Can anyone shed some light on this?
If I wanted to register 10 songs as "one work"...
I've always heard people bashing graphic eq, but never payed much mind. So I continued using the free graphic eq plugin I downloaded.
Then a little bit ago a friend gave me Sonar 5. Compared to REAPER I didn't like it, so never gave it a second thought. But when installing it, it also installed...
I would like to share with everyone a song that a friend and I recorded yesterday in my livingroom. This is the first time I've used my newish equipment to record something serious, not just a demo, and am very excited and pleased with the results of my VERY modest setup! Here's what was used to...
I'm not talking about brand, but what guage.
I finally found the perfect way to record my acoustic guitar
(mxl v67g ~18 in. from 15th fret>fmr rnp>audiophile 192>reaper)
And it sounds really good. Good as in accurate.
When I listened to what I had recorded, it sounded great, but a little thin. I...
when I record. I haven't done any serious recordings for nearly 10 months, so perhaps I'm just not used to it?? I do plenty of demos in my room, and those are super fun. But when I try doing a serious recording, I get nervous and mess up no matter what.
I think I've discovered why and what to...
I've been listening to clips of the v67g and comparing them to other mics in it's price range at http://www.thelisteningsessions.com
I think the v67g sounds good, but compared to the Studio Projects C1, it didn't sound as full.
I record mostly acoustic guitar and dude vox. I would appreciate...
