My interface is a Presonus Firestudio Project. I am looking to buy a seperate Mic Pre for improving my recordings. Is it worth buying something like the ART TPS II? or are the mic pre's in the presonus just as good?
If I do upgrade I will need a device with 2 channels as I will be...

looking to get a better preamp that will improve my vocal recordings. I guess I'm looking for a fatter more lush sound.

my setup was working fine last time i recorded. i am now experiencing very high audio latency. sound about 150ms. when i change the buffer size i get no difference in the latency
my buffer size is 480. when i open device setup in cubase its telling me that its latency is 11ms. i think i must of...
i currently own a presonus firestudio project and was looking to buy a new microphone preamp (goldenage 73) to improve my vocal recordings.
I have only read good things about both of the preamps mentioned. will the goldenage pre 73 make an improvement to my sound or are the Xmax preamps ample...
hey
when i set up the gain on my interface correctly making sure not to clip (peaking at around -6 max!) i get around -10 db in cubase. after recording my visual waveforms sometimes look quite small and weedy! haha and peak somewhere around -15 to -10 db.
i read in some article on the net that...
soo... i have started a bunch of songs and the ones in 24 bit sound great, plenty of headroom and more separation between instruments.
i have one song however recorded in 16 bit (forgot to change it to 24 and didn't realize) i am wondering if i can copy/paste the parts into a brand spankin new...

planning to record my classical with a mic 12" from the 12th fret and also with another mic 12" from the bridge. I read recently that the distance between the two mics has to be 3X the distance from the sound source and mic. in this case that would be 36" , if i did this though the mics would be...

Recording Levels And Gain Staging - Audiofanzine
i kind of get the impression that i should lower my gain input on my interface so i get -15 -20db of in put in my DAW. If i do this my actual peak reading on my interface (firestudio project) will be considerably low, as in the...
i was listening back to a guitar part i recorded today in my head phones (AKG 77s) volume about half way, any louder is just ridiculous. It seems to have a very high output for some reason.
i noticed on this guitar part that there was some unwanted distortion or clipping. nothing was clipping...
i have separated my EZ drummer kit onto separate channels withing cubase. it is only possible to do this when setting ez drummer up on a midi track rather than a vsti track. the only problem now is that i cant insert any plugins! only midi plugs

I am carrying out simple mastering within my DAW. My question is, on mixdown should i export to 16bit or 24? i realize mastering houses request 24bit Wavs, do they then mixdown to 16?
my project setup is 44.100kHz sample rate and 16 bit Format

I am currently running three different tracks with amplitube as a plugin on each of them. my cpu is not a great fan of this to say the least!! haha

I am attempting to e.q the stereo out on track i am working on.
I am using cubase 5 studio eq and want to use a high pass filter to remove bottom end below 35Hz.
I seem to have a problem as when i set the high pass there (35hz) it slowly starts rolling off from around 100Hz down to 20db at...
I have a few questions on using a limiter that need clearing up. I apologize now for my lack of understanding on the subject etc...
When one uses a limiter in mastering to increase the overall perceived volume how many Dbs is an ideal maximum to increase by, and likewise with gain reduction...
I have numerous amplitube vsts running in one song. My aim is to bounce them down to separate audio tracks. If i can do this I will save a lot of processing power as Amplitube eats up quite a bit of it.
I am using Cubase 5
