I've done just about everything i can do, but when i open up that high hat on a recording it just overpowers everything. Its mostly coming from the snare mic. Any ideas on how i can eliminate much of the high hat noise i'm getting? I just get so much HH that it ruins many of my recordings...

I've been recording for 2 years now, I'm 17 years old and I've learned everything completely on my own until now. I'd consider my self an advanced newbie at this point because I know a lot on typical set ups mic placements, dubbing, the works. The problem is, I'm not a getting a "full/warm"...
So thanks to those good old fashion Guitar Center employees, about 2 years ago when I started recording the sound guy told me, "Oh analog is dying go digital, I'm a huge tool" yadda yadda yadda, i believed him being naive and a novice to this world, but I'm finally considering steps toward the...
I want something to beef up my bass drum sound, give it a little extra punch with out adding too much top end to it, I'm not lookin' for a sub sound just something that's gonna cut thru real nice. I'm running through a Firepod if anyone's wondering. Any alternative suggestions are strongly...

For a mic and a preamp which should ideally have the lower impedance? I have an art mpa gold and a rode nt1000 rated 100 ohms and with the mpa's variable impedance settings up to i think 3000 ohms i was...
There's an 8 channel preamp maybe some of you are familiar with, its the Nady PRA 8. I can pick it up on ebay for 100 bucks or less and i was wondering if its worth it, just to add some gain for drums and live recordings. Not a whole lot of features, individual phantom power for each channel...
There's an $800 sonor "studio" set on musicians friend and i'm looking for something to put in the studio for bands that don't wanna lug their own. I was just wondering if this set is worth it. I know sonor makes some quality sets, but every company makes a high quality and low quality set. I...
For a new project I'm working on right now the vocalist of the band that I have coming in is looking for what he pretty much described to be the most colored, warm sound possible. I'm set for mic's right now so I'm probably looking for a nice tube preamp with a lot of coloration and an...
I think it would be cool if we started a thread where everyone just lists their favorite mic and pre amp combo for recording vocals so other people can see what's being used and get ideas for future purchases.
Just list your mic and preamp and maybe give a little description of each maybe even...
