Thanks Papa appreciate the comments. Yeah something happened during the mp3 conversion, it's not supposed to be that hot, the final wav peaks at -3. When you say the parts aren't mixed together are you talking about guitar, bass etc. or different parts of the track - verse, chorus etc?

Yeah that wah part is actually an old casio keyboard through a pedal. Cheers Manslick

I thought MM when I first heard it too. That's an option on the vocal worth considering. There's a new mix up, see if you have any further suggestions..:-) Thanks for the listen

Yes it is actually baked in, I know I shouldn't bake in effects but what can you do:-). I've lifted one of the guitars and yeh makes it more obvious. There's a new mix up if you want to have a listen, see if guitar gels better Thanks for the feedback

This is the 3rd track in our 4-track EP. Scott reckoned we needed a slow one so this is a new jam, not a rehash of an earlier collab. Interested in any feedback on the mix and balance. All suggestions welcome

    The Triumphant Son

Cool track. I had a look at the SynthV s/w as I'm vocally challenged but turns out I'm lyrically challenged as well so I gave up. Good job on this, she's definitely realistic and if you weren't paying close attention she'd easily pass for the real thing

Yeah when I import the mp3 into Reaper it's hitting the reds. I know Scott uses T-Racks to warm over the mix, not sure whether it's something in there or in the mp3 conversion itself. Thanks for that, good spotting

    Ears please

Yes I think you're right. One of the challenges with this is that the bass, guitar and drum tracks have been lost so the original mp3 mix is kind of baked in. We augmented it with some additional sounds and I've tried a few eq curves but haven't got the balance quite right yet. Thanks for the...

Great comments Trip (like always :D) You've basically covered the challenging elements I'm wrestling with in the mix, vocals being the main one. I'll take another look at those cymbals too

    EggShells song/mix feedback

I would generally default to dirty but in this case the clean treatment is better imo. It's a cool track. The vocal melody reminds me of something, can't put my finger on it. Only thing I don't like is the scratchy static in the right ear during the intro. Nice job
