Yeah I do like the crunchy distortion the compression adds but of course it pulls the room up as well. I'm used to the sound of the room, was just interested in how obvious it is to other folks

Cheers strat. The compression on the room mic gives the drums a nice crunch but it really does plaster that room sound everywhere

Mix is a little muddy. Lead break is fab. Maybe high pass some stuff, vocal maybe, rhythm guitar. But yeah killer solo. Nice job

Yeah I agree with Dobro on the last note. I have trouble recording sustained bass notes as they tend to descend into a muddy mushy buildup but you don't seem to have that issue here. The Squier sounds good. Fun to explore the creative possibilities of new kit

Windows 11 update told me there wasn't enough space to install the s/w so I went to move some old crap off my laptop to my ssd backup, and that was full as well. So I went looking for stuff to remove and found this along the way. @Dogman put this all together in 2006 and I did drums...

That bass out front and centre is great. Love that growly tone. Nice full mix too. Vocals really set the scene. Put this on at a wedding, everyone's on their feet :D

I would slide the drums forward a couple of ms so they are more synced with the guitars. You could compress the vocal a lot harder, would add to the rockin feel. Nice job

Yeh I agree with the above. Also I would simplify the drums, the repetitive fills aren't contributing. Pretty good for your first original

It's a very nice lead break. Amazing how well it fits over a different version recorded 5 years later. That's some tempo matching. Were you actually trying to keep the tempo identical to the original?
