OK, I know I am like a school girl, but I am now in between the Behringer System 55Eurorack and the UB-XA Desktop. The System 55 is twice the price, but looks pretty fun.
You know anything about those?
@Eclipse4449 I would add, you don't need a controller, if your interface has a MIDI DIN plug. My controller, a PC-200 is from 1989 (it was designed for computers), it still works well. I am currently looking for an external synthesizer to add to the fun.
You can use the keyboard as Rob...
Ableton can be the controller. I d o have a keyboard I will be using, but Ableton is the main controller. I figure there is somewhat to map to the machine if any of the controls is MIDI controllable.
Thanks for the info. In my case, I will mainly control it from Ableton and run the sound back into a channel. I know there are lots of plugins, but I am trying to get some unique sounds and if there is good MIDI mapping, hopefully I can record the MIDI and get it the way I want and then run the...
Looking to expand my equipment, I think I have settled on purchasing a new Synth, the Behringer UB-Xa Desktop is on the short list? Looks like it has a lot of good features and sound. Price doesn't seem crazy.
If you have any experience with this synth, your input would be greatly appreciated.
@rob aylestone - I agree with you. To me it is one process and not like the "old days" when you really did need to master to get it on vinyl.
I am pretty sure, everyone is going to push up the average volume of a mix. Loudness? Well that really is a matter of finesse I push my mixes up on the...
You probably received Ableton lite with your interface. I suggest dumping it unless you are going to use its features, which I will be honest, unless you are into EDM, I don't think you will . Plus the lite version is cripple ware. I use Ableton, I have used it for over 10 years, I do experiment...
OK, maybe I am not getting it, but why do you want to DI the bass, why not just mic it? Why not split the input one DI and the other mic'd? Or, just play it twice and blend how you want it to sound. I mean, it is digital, you have as many tracks as you want.
My apologies if I missed it.
yea, that was what I was thinking as well. It would be OK, but ... I have a controller, not motorized, but for a different reason, once you get past the track count, it seems to fall down and doesn't flow as well.
You confirmed what I thought.
Has anyone used on of these? It appears it would be a good addition to a studio setup if one were looking for a bit more tactile feel for a DAW.
I am contemplating on getting one, either that or a synth since I haven't purchased anything in a few years. You know, need something new to get the...
Hi Doubter, not sure how old you are and it doesn't really matter. I got deeper into recording about 15 years ago, I was past 50. My two cents, there is a nice book out there Recording for Dummies, nice place to start and get you up to knowing terms and concepts really quick. About a two hour...
I had a bleeding edge 286 with 20MB, paid about DM-5K (Duetsche Mark) (or $2500 ish). All I could run was a program called Ballade (Sequencer) and the sound was from a Roland LAPC-1.
I still have the LAPC-1, thinking of getting it going and driving it from my Ableton MIDI out. But that...
If you are using Reaper, then it is a simple drop down, not really extra work. I only say that in case you run into a limit because of processing count. It is a easy workaround for the occasion that you need it. Plus it will make a low end computer go real far and useful.
Well, that is a hard one. The answer is yes (IMO), but ...
DAW - if you are using a efficient DAW like Reaper, no problem on that side.
Effects - This can be tricky, but if you learn the freeze feature, or render and put processed audio into another channel and then turn of the effects, no...
