I upgraded my desktop about a year ago. That is the nice thing about desktops. I purchased MB, processor and I was willing to use a chip with onboard graphics but there was a small problem. All said and done, I was in for an AMD 7, 32GB, 2 TB SSD data card. Repartitioned my old HD to be just C...
I lay down the groove with the song, tap it out, get my click. Do the scratch guitar until my click and groove aligns naturally. Usually takes me several takes until I can play to the click without trying. Once I have the natural flow, Click, drums, bass, order usually varies. Even if I lay down...
It does sound very good. Vocals are really well done. But I have to also sadly agree, while it is good, there isn't much to make it sound different from everyone else. With such a good vocal and apparently good production skills, it seems you could now stretch yourself and go for, away from the...
Since you seem to be a sample based artist, you might want to look into Ableton or Bitwig. Those two DAWs may compliment and extend what you are going towards.
Actually, I am not looking for anything in particular, only trying to better understand all of the various parts to make better decisions when I want to do something. The better one understands the theory, the better one can make decisions when a decision may/or may not be needed.
It was more...
Probably the delay and reverb I am routing the dry signal through. There are plenty of "artificial" items in the mix, since I am mainly concerned how the instrument sounds in the mix. I am not a guitar centric arranger. But I do lean on the guitar to provide the groove more than I lean on the...
I heard the effect Seafroggys was talking about. I didn't hear it like like he did.
It seems like it has the Rockpile sound? I thought everything sounded spot on. I am not an engineer listener, but production sounded sounded good. Maybe chorus volume come down back closer to the rest of the...
I would get the level I wanted in the amp for the sound, as that makes a difference. Then adjust the input to keep it from clipping in the interface. I feel it is better to have the input too low as too high. Adding gain in the DAW cost (sound wise) nothing, so you don't really add noise. Once...
Well, for me it is hard without context. But here is a quick down and dirty.
Crate GT1200 with 4 X12 sealed back
st audio about 1 foot in center of cabinet
Some Russian style mic about three foot back. (tends to be dark)
Bass line is UBX a
Drums SD with grooves
707 drum VSTi
Various other...
Working on it. I have something that I was going to post pretty soon. Just need to get a bit better. Jamming takes a bit of practice ;) I don't to want to totally embarrass myself.
Your NT1 would be a great mic. I think starting out, your mic's don't have to be great. Once you start knowing what you are chasing, then mic's can play a more important role. At our level, not too much.
I just take the close mic and the room mic and blend the two together to taste. Sometimes...
My two cents. One, using two mics works very well. One for close mic'ing (you really have to play with it) and the other to capture the room (for character). But here is the trick. You really need to here it in the mix. Thin is in, when you have other instruments, so it depends where you want...
My brother gifted me an amp. A Crate. I had heard a lot of negatives about Crate, so I wasn't super excited about getting it. I play guitar, but I am not a guitar player. I usually DI and use amp sims, but have always thought the sounds was s**t and really didn't put the sound of the electric...
