What acoustic guitar recordings, or records that feature acoustic guitar, have what you consider great world class acoustic tone?

I worked on Steve Howe’s guitars. On Roundabout he was using a 1930’s era O-18 which I restored for him in the early 2000’s.

You should send it in. Also, you should get one of the Sovereign’s done. You will not be disappointed.

Can't Get Guitar to sound right when recording

I’d switch to one mic and see if it’s a phase issue. All I am hearing is high end trash. Back off the treble some too.

    Anyone still use Acid Pro?

The chopper feature is cool. In loop editing you can manipulate the sounds in so many cool ways. I repitch loops a lot. This one is all guitars outside of the drum loops.

I'm writing my degree on the U47 and need your help

Vintage mics all have their individual charm. I also don’t think it’s that complicated to keep them working well, but modern boutique mics, preamps, tube guitar amps, pedals, etc can all cover the bases that great vintage stuff does but at a much lower cost with generally more reliability. I’ll...

I'm writing my degree on the U47 and need your help

I used to own a vintage U47 and a matched set of U67’s. I loved them. My ADK Z-67 is just as good if not better.

Banning of certain music released for Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram

My solution is to never go on any of these sites. Fuck Facebook and the shitstorm it rode in on.

Our normal price is $1300 which includes all the parts and labor for a full conversion. A new case, pickup, and shipping are extra. The end result blows away the red label Yamaha’s.

I'm writing my degree on the U47 and need your help

I just think the photos of John Lennon singing into one and then hearing the record he sang on it with pretty much sums up the sound. I’ve had the pleasure of using an original U47 and two U67’s in a studio I ran in the early 80’s. Currently, I own a few ADK mics including their U47 clone...

When I started building guitars it was in a small town where they have the National Flatpicking Championships every year, so it was nearly all Bluegrass music and the guitars everyone drooled over were Pre-war Martins and Gibson’s, as well as Mossman Guitars (where I worked), and Gallagher...

It’s a good guitar as it is. What we do is kind of like a frame off resto mod, like putting a V8 in a Volkswagen. The guitars we rebuild were mostly made real cheaply and crudely on the inside. We replace the crude insides with sophisticated advanced bracing. The guild already has advanced...

Guilds are ok. Mostly they are too clunky. The heel and neck block are usually super thick and heavy. The necks are generally finished in which makes taking them off a lot harder. The best guild acoustics were made in the late 50’s and early 60’s when they were made by the old NY Epiphone folks.

We do conversions on most all models made in Chicago by either the Harmony or Kay factories. We also do conversions on some other brands and models, such as old Kalamazoo’s, some Gibson models such as a LGO or LG1. We don’t really convert any import models or a lot of the major factory models...

Gibson is not a good company.

Their inconsistency is their biggest flaw. They do make some guitars that are nice. When I was a warranty center the sales rep would show up with samples of their new models and those guitars would be dialed in. They had perfect frets and playability, looked good, etc. However, when the guitars...
