    Pre-roll issue

It's more work but I prefer to cut out the section I don't want and record the new bit on a separate track(s). Then paste the best new part into the original track.

    Looking for a new Bass...

One of the great mysteries in life for me is how certain bass players get their sound. I've had a few different basses and, although they all sounded different, they were also very similar. My guess is that the sounds I hear are the result of signal processing and amp choices. That said, I would...

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

Plus, I have my phone with me where ever I go so if I have an idea I can immediately hum or sing it and listen back later.

Have you ever recorded a song on your cellphone?

I have used my phone to capture ideas but I have good mic's for when I get serious. That said I think your recording sounds really good!

    I find click-tracks annoying...

I'm not annoyed by the click but I prefer hihat hits so that's what I use most of the time.

    Middle of Nowhere

I agree with @Odi and @TalismanRich on this one. The vocal needs to stand out from the guitar somehow without losing the guitar. I think once you solo those together you'll be able to is that out. Also, I like the sound of the bass but maybe lacking a little low end? Sometimes just raising the...

Small room with an offset Fireplace... -What to do?

I would try either the long walk or the left wall. Be sure to add bass traps. FYI, my best sounding room is my storage room that has floor to ceiling shelves full of stuff that totally absorbs and diffuses the sound. Since it's temporary try filling the room with stuff you already have.

    Rockman

I never had the Rockman or ADA but I remember them well. My first rack units were the Sansamp Rackmount and the Rocktron Piranha. I loved the Piranha and wish I still had it.

Are we supposed to be our biggest fans?

I do like everything I write and that is why I bother to record it, but, like other artists, I like some songs more than others. There are songs that I've recorded that I'm quite sure no one else would appreciate so I won't release those. If I was writing songs commercially I would be writing...

    Best Mixing Advice

I think musicians fall into a few different categories: - Those that love to play and write and want to record but don't have the time or patience to record. - Those that want to record but have no material to record. - Those that love to write and love to record. I'm sure there are more but I...

    Song Structuring..

Nothing wrong with structure if you can make it interesting. Same thing for no structure.

    Studio floor

I have carpet laid directly on concrete and seems to help deaden the room compared to bare concrete. If it were me though I would try it first and if you don't like the barefloor try some area rugs before committing to carpet.

    The Chair

That's a cool looking chair but I wouldn't want a head rear for two reasons: 1. I'm usually sitting upright or leaning forward while playing or mixing. 2. The chair might block my laptop screen when I'm not in it, like when I'm playing drums and want to see that screen.
