You might try a little less reverb on the vocals and bit more on the guitar. Spread the guitar wider and bring the vocals more centered. Over all its nice.
Volume wise, the vocals are spot on. I would use a little eq on the instruments to carve a bit more space for them. Its a little flat, the vocals need to be separated just touch from the instrumentation.
Great freaking vocals!! I like the wide mix. I might bring the vocals out just a touch when the entire ensemble kicks in. Vocals are just a little buried, but that's a personal choice. I like vocals up front on something like this.
This is pretty cool. The dry version might just a little too dry. just a tiny touch of verb to sweeten it. The guitar, bass and drums don't sound like they are in the same space. Are the reverb settings similar? There is space on the drums, but not on the bass.
Setup was quite simple. Audio Technica 2020 microphones in a stereo XY, and a KAM MC3 with a vocal head for the violin. Post recording, A little multiband compression, some light eq. a little mastering with a touch of audio exciter and reverb. I rather like the final product. It might be able...
Our local Park Band with Josh Facello on Violin. Simple setup, 3 microphones. 2 mics on the band (x/y Stereo), a vocal mic for the violin, recorded live on stage. Just sharing with the group. I hope to have more time to spend here.
This has a lot of potential. I feel it is over processed, over compressed. vocals do need to be tamed a bit, and more given to the percussion. I played with it for a few minutes.. I think with the individual files you have a really nice piece waiting to come out. Here is what I came out...
This piece is a re-master from the original I recorded years ago. Original recording, 7 channels mixed direct to 2 track using headphones. All recorded in the percussionist's living room of a mobile home.
In the re-master, brought the low end up, compressed the vocal range a bit, basically...
Using a spanning bar to mount inside the grand piano case so you can record with the lid up or down. Granted... it sounds better up, but still usable with the lid down.
I posted over on "the other " board, you can check them out there..

Hi guys--opinions wanted
OK, since there is a similar thread here, I wanted to ask your opinions on this sound--classical piece. How do these mics sound?
Is the stereo field big enough, not big enough? Overall recording quality(keep in mind this is MP3). etc. Let it fly...
I took an evening and recorded a local artist. Here is one of the cuts out of the 16 we did in one evening!

While this is not technically a home recording. I did record this with my own gear. It is a fairly big piece 6mb or so.
Live recording of our local symphony.
