    Off grid studio

There is nothing wrong with the studio idea, that is great. But the rest of it is just basically impossible. It's ok watching all the YouTubers telling their glorious fabulous stories of living the dream and isnt everything wonderful. But in reality it is nothing but hard work and endless...

    Small Professional Vocal Studio Interface

On the Audient 14 the headphone amp isnt very loud for vocals (narration). It is almost at maximum for me to hear properly, but I like it loud in my ears so I can hear stuff going on. A stomach rumbling or clothes rustling, lips smacking, or tongue noises can ruin a recording because the story...

    Small Professional Vocal Studio Interface

Knowing a little more now. I would want totally silent pre-amps because our set up is for vocals. Ease of use. 2 headphone sockets. Total flexibility.

    Small Professional Vocal Studio Interface

I did start off with a Scarlett 2i2. I was completely green and I did start having issues which I didn't understand. I did read somewhere that the Scarlett didn't behave 100% with Windows. At the same time I read that the new at the time Audients were great. They cost about £100 more and I...

What video editing software do you use?

The monthly cost puts me off. It's just another bill that keeps mounting up..........unless you are making money from your vids.

    Shocking plywood guitar.

Plywood is wood peeled from a tree then dried and then the wood is is turned around and the grain of the wood put across the grain of other sheets of wood and glued together. This stops one sheet of wood trying to move because it is glued to others. A single sheet/plank of wood will always try...

    Shocking plywood guitar.

Richard wood or 'real wood' is constantly moving depending on the environment. It is affected by air moisture and heat greatly. It will absorb amounts of moisture from the air and then dry out when the air is dryer and less moist. So the real wood will give you different tones all the time in...

    Shocking plywood guitar.

The wood, plastic, metal, resin or whatever the 'electric' guitar is made out of has the tiniest effect on the 'electric guitar' sound. Barely audible. 'Tonewood' as it is called is one of those 'myths' with electric guitars. With acoustic guitars what the guitar is made from and how it is...

    Shocking plywood guitar.

Why?..............Every single piece of wood is different. Different density, different flexibility, even if off the same tree. So how is a piece of plywood any different especially when added to the make up of the instrument, the deign and manufacture of that instrument. For example...

    Shocking plywood guitar.

Plywood if of quality which musical instruments should be made of, is stronger than 'real wood'. The wood plys should be of a descent enough thickness so that the glues should never affect the other side of the wood veneer. If the glue is affecting the opposite side then at one time someone...

    Building a standalone quiet room

If you can get lots of 'cheap' heavy duvets, then great that will certainly defeat a lot of sound except for base/low sounds like drums. Get to know someone in hotels where they get rid of their old bedding periodically. The light ones are next to useless for sound. It's a makeshift idea but...

    Building a standalone quiet room

You could but it would be a lot of old clothes. To isolate your noise you need the floor, ceiling and all walls and your door completely insulated. So need a false floor and ceiling as well as 4 walls. Acoustic Rockwool still works out the best and cheapest if you have to purchase.

    Building a standalone quiet room

A few hundred wouldnt cover it James. You would need to build a fully insulated box to keep sound in or out. The insulation may cost more than a few hundred.

Where You Stick It Makes A Hell Of A Difference

Well when you think about it in our case. If someone has a slapping tongue, the the inverted mic pointing down in to the mouth directly on that tongue, is going to be picking the noises up directly. But if the mic is below chin level pointing up at the nose then those tongue noises won't be so...

Bare wood vs finished wood ?

There is a big difference really. Its a lot less work to leave it unfinished. When you get to that stage you will understand these words. (y)
