I use a Shure SM58 for all my recording duties, yet it sounds crap. It always distorts vocals and miked guitar amps. Is it a bad mic or am I doing sommat wrong?

Does anyone know of a plug-in that will speed up the the song yet not change the pitch?

I just tried N-Track for the first time today, so I laid down my first track nor problem. I then laid down my second track, no problem until I played it back and to my astonishment my 2nd track was about 4 seconds behind my first track? What is wrong? Please help!
