    HD24/YAMAHA 02R MIXER / HELP NEEDED.

Unfortunately, it has been well over 20 years since I last laid hands on an O2R. Here is a screen shot of the returns section for the option routing. It is one of those things like riding a bike, I'd likely rememeber if I had 20 minutes to fumble through the menu again. Sorry if I am not much...

    Good Balanced Cables?

I solder the shield on the inside just at the outside edge. I will flow some solder on this part first before doing the + and -, doing the shield last. You tend to start getting good at it just about at the point where you are done.

How do I make a headset mic line level?

A lot going on in this thread. This headset model is for desktop conferencing and the noise cancelling is not of the type you are thinking. The Polycom, now Poly has a lot of experience with DSP and their technologies such as acoustic fencing is pretty impressive. They have DSP and software...

How do I make a headset mic line level?

I've used the AT broadcast headset along with the Shure. Both are dynamic mics and will work for you but keep in mind, if this is for gaming or game streaming over OBS, you may not be that happy with how heavy and hot it will get. I use these in boardrooms as a headset for a tech to set up an...

How do I make a headset mic line level?

Good question. I use a ton of stuff like this I get off of Amazon because I have to connect stuff up to DSP's and often transformer isolators to get rid of buzzing.

How do I make a headset mic line level?

If you look at the image I posted of the TRRS, you'll note that there is one mic+ and a common ground used for the headphones and mic. The Y cable (I presume that is what you have?) splits the L&R plus ground for the headphones and the other side of the Y cable is the microphone. On mine, it...

How do I make a headset mic line level?

I only run into this stuff because Poly used to be Polycom and I run a company that specializes in teleconferencing. The thing I hate the most is the adaption of the 1/8inch jack on this gear. Some of it is 1/8 TRS and others 1/8TRRS. It is all stupid.

How do I make a headset mic line level?

The USB interface is a separate piece for this, and the headset is standard.

How do I make a headset mic line level?

Here is the wiring diagram for TRRS along with typical TS and TRS. The challenge is ensuring the pinout of the adaptors you are using gets you + and - to the input as Boulder says. The adaptor I use, the mic side is 1/8 TRS which at first glance, doesn't make sense. I'm not certain which is +...

    HD24/YAMAHA 02R MIXER / HELP NEEDED.

Dug up the manual. Start here with an input like a tone generator on Mic 1 and play around with routing it everywhere. Then figure out the HD24 returns back to the O2R and you should have what you need.

    HD24/YAMAHA 02R MIXER / HELP NEEDED.

Many, many....many years ago I used to record with both the O1V and O2R with T-Dif cards and Tascam recorders. Other than format, it shouldn't be different. Not sure why you are trying to input directly to the HD24 rather than through the O2R. It is a menu driven I/O system and you are going...

    Direct Boxes

Way back in the day doing live sound, I worked with an artist named Willy Porter fairly often. He was a protege of Michael Hedges of Windham Hill Aerial Boundaries fame, in the same vein of heavy acoustic guitar percussive style. He used a Pendulum guitar preamp with a parametric EQ and a...

What’s the right Reamp box for me ?

I want names. Just kidding. Noise you say. Need more details but if the noise is from the pickup, with single coil for instance, the DI may or may not help much. Ground loops if that is your issue, I'd start looking at how everything is connected electrically and physically as a start. Am I...

General tips on how you improved the most at producing, overall?

Perhaps not a path available easily with the way music is often produced these days. I started out just before the first home studio revolution in the 70's. Prior to multi-tracking, I was recording music with a mixer and a couple of cassette decks, just bouncing and adding tracks from one to...

What’s the right Reamp box for me ?

Two separate things in this post. Reamping and are you adding using the DI as a guitar input via the XLR pre? Why? Again, wouldn't use the DI to record. Continue to use the instrument input and only use the DI for reamping. For reamping, use a passive not active DI. I presume by workaround...

What’s the right Reamp box for me ?

Not necessarily. A passive DI box makes a good reamp box and is not very different than one that is marketed as a reamp box. You just use the output as an input. Gender changer on the XLR or a TRS to female XLR cable and you are good to go.

    Direct Boxes

I've used the Countryman DI's on bass for stage and studio and never felt it hindered output but also always had solid phantom power. For recording and for passive, Radial Engineering makes the JDI premium with a Jensen transformer. At about $250, it is a bit over your budget but is a quality...

    Good Balanced Cables?

I had made two pretty factual statements in about a 12 hour period and one was deemed "mean" and another harsh. I stated simply that "I hate cheap connectors" and based on your suggestion, you fall somewhere outside of my statement. Not sure what exactly was harsh. Rob highlights some of the...

    Good Balanced Cables?

Apologies in advance. Second time in just a few posts I've been admonished for being unkind. Perhaps I am due another 10 year hiatus from the forum. With all that is going on with the forum these days, I have just tried to focus on the tech stuff. Mine is an opinion born out throughout the...

    Good Balanced Cables?

I compress it like a monkey trap and then use a seal pick to unfurl it. That is with the star quad. With two conductor Mogami, I do the same sort of compressing but split a hole in the braid close to the sheath with the pick and pull the two conductors through the hole. This leaves the braid...
