Can anyone help me with volume automation options?

One of the important points he makes in that video is that by working this way, levels are within a consistent range when they hit the compressor.

    2008 Martin D28 - horrible resonances

Big issue this time of year. I use an Oasis Ukulele humidifier and fill it once a week. It fits flatter in the case. I also leave the guitars in the cases. Cracking is a big issue, especially with better guitars that don't have the life sealed out of them like some modern mass produced guitars.

    2008 Martin D28 - horrible resonances

I recently had my Gibson serviced and it took more than a bit of research and asking around to find the right shop. I paid $240 to reglue a bridge and flatten the belly along with set up and new strings. Was happy to do so as the work quality and results were excellent. Way cheaper than a new...

    problem at 100hz

I'm not even suggesting you do what I did. Just want you to understand that deciding on what is even effective involves a bit of calculations. It is why I suggested the room calculator as the start. I don't have your exact measurements, but I did input the approximate dimension into it. If...

    problem at 100hz

Sound treatment and also room measurement can become a huge rabbit hole. Too many end up obsessing on freq response. One approach that is as old as recording audio, do what you can within reason and learn to adapt. I worked in really terrible rooms in the 70's but it was what we had and we...

    Annoying IK Multimedia experience

When I decided to return to recording, the first mistake I made was to purchase a Protools subscription. I presumed it must of gotten better at midi. Oh how wrong I was. The only saving grace is that I used it to purchase Cubase Pro when on sale and through a competitive upgrade. Another...

    problem at 100hz

I'd suggest starting with John Brandt room calculator spreadsheet. You can find it on his website at jhbrandt.net Plug in your actually measured room dimensions and see exactly what it is you are dealing with. The issue with room modes is going that 100hz is related to 50, 200, 400, 800 and...

    problem at 100hz

Really old thread. The down side is that many of the helpful build voices have moved on from the forums. I take it from the m' you mean the room is square. Not the best initial design decision if this was purpose built. Also, not a very large room. Wouldn't waist money of foam anything...

    Annoying IK Multimedia experience

Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln? I kid a bit as isn't that you down just a few threads talking about how cool some of the IK stuff is? A lot of it comes down to the need to lock things down because of all the piracy in early years. All of these convoluted systems are a result...

Higher Notes Cancel Power from Lower Notes

My initial thought is perhaps he is mixing the direct with the DAW through the monitors and the latency is causing some phase cancellation, but the high frequencies is a twist on that theory.

Higher Notes Cancel Power from Lower Notes

How do the recording sound? Headphones? I purchased Amplitube Max and initially was pretty disappointed in how it sounded live for just practice through my monitors. I got the AxeIO with the bundle which has a re-amp out and decided to make use of it. I had picked up a Vox Cambridge50 on a...

    Clarett S/PDIF Question

Oh this brings back memories of the early days of digital. It really was a mix of 110 and 75 ohm AES/EBU. Our surround sound processor was 75 ohm along with some other gear. I used a lot of these to connect gear together.

    500 Series Rack questions?

A lot depends on your use case. Preamps only or mix of I/O such as EQ and Comps? Power is a big consideration as some modules can be hungry. How you intend to integrate into your set up will affect what to get. I had been considering the Cranborne with the USB interface but was hoping for an...

Should you buy a pedal steel guitar

There is something very compelling about pedal steel from an expressive nature of the instrument but as has been pointed out throughout this thread, wildly difficult learning curve. I've been shopping and one item on my list is a lap steel. In looking for reviews on the Recording King with a...

    More interesting mics to review

Nearly 20 years ago, I decided I was done. Sold off all my live sound gear along much of the studio gear and a lot of mics. I certainly regret getting rid of a pair of 451 with pads, omni and cardioid capsules. Another was the matched pair of Crown CM700's. Those worked well on so many...
