Rack-mounted Tuners... uh, Power Conditioners, too...

Well, the band just got into "rackland," and I was hoping to find a good tuner/power conditioner to throw in there. I've seen various ones in the past, you know, upside-down smiley LED faces, but didn't pay attention (playing keyboards at the time). SO, I'm looking for a GREAT tuner, hopefully...

    STICKING keys...

My 2nd octave D (from 2nd octave down) is sticking. REALLY obvious at times. Any advice for taking apart Yamaha SY-77 and cleaning velocity-sensitive keys? Thanks! -K.

Yamaha SY77 soundcards... gotta send to yer friends, see if they got these...

Lookin' for used SY77 sound cards... in particular, the piano and organ (hammond, Bwhatever, drum samples, etc.) They should be CARDs and not regular discs, although those could come in handy, too... Thanks, -K.

Do you have Shadow Pickups? Here's a good setting for acoustic amp...

That Dean Exotica QSE (yeah, the BLUE one) I got was a bitch to figure out for live shows. If you're interested, here's what I've done... Compression. Something like 2:1, don't remember... Set the EQ as follows: Bright ....X.... High ....X.... Mid ..X...... Low ......X.. Sub-Bass ....X...

    Brian Grey! Magnetic Shielding?

Heya! Dig your studio shots, would like to know more about the chicken wire/foil thing (EVERYbody does!). I was hoping you'd share what you know about magnetic shielding, and particularly whether this foil thing will work for the same purpose. We've got a thread going in the Cave, guess this...

EV635--What the f@&* do I use THIS thing for!?

Helped Mom move her office today; earned myself a little mono mixer (you know, corporate meeting room style) and a pile of wire. Started to unravel the wire tonight and found an ElectroVoice 635a. It's an omnidirectional number with seemingly no bass response (and no proximity effect). Any...

    Couple more...

http://www.mp3.com/high-tide If you have the time, please download either: "Ins and Outs" (emphasis on song, not recording, which was done live). "Ginko Biloba" (our first tracked song, complete with incompleteness). Ginko needs a complete overhaul, but I put it up to see if the panning is...

    Dig the SOUND eht giD

When we first got the MD-8, we mainly continued recording in stereo (instead of tracking). This is a heavily processed (read: reverbed) practice jam that I really like. The tenor reverb really sets up a "in the mist" type of sound (whatever the hell tenor reverb is.). There is at least one...

    Low Cost Weighted Controller

Already have the sounds and sequencer... just want the real feel of piano (holy MOLY i hate weightless keys). Anyone know of controller made nowadays that fits this bill? Inexpensive as possible, please. Doesn't need sounds, only a MIDI out, I suppose. Thanks!

Jethro Tull Flute Mic--What is it, where placed?

uh... Jethro Tull Flute Mic--what is it, where is it placed? Probably many positions--I specifically want to know where it is on "Locomotive Breath." He's got that "ugh!" when he draws in a breath on one of the flute solos, and I want to use that idea in a song... thx!

I enjoy listening to everyone's music. Thank You for good entertainment!

Yeah. Make a new folder on the desktop and download as many files as possible from everyone. When you do this, put the name of the Homerekker's nickname before the title of the song. Open Winamp and trip on the visualizations, trying to guess who wrote each thing based on their posts on this...

    Placement for SM-58

You'll need to take the windscreen off. This kindof turns the 58 into a 57. Next, aim the mic at the junction of fretboard and body. Fine tune from there. (compress at least 2:1)

    What mic on the vocals?

Oh, I don't know if you need a dynamic mic. Lots of folks here swear by the NT-1 for vocals (and acoustic guitar), and all we use at work (radio) are condenser mics. I personally think it's all budget oriented. Yeah, buy some 57s cause you'll use them for everything. But get an NT-1 later...

    DIY Pickups

You have 6 nails and a shitload of wire. You're going to nail these into a 2x4, and then turn it upside down to pickup from the top of the strings. Now: do you wrap the bass or tenor more? do you wrap the nails in series, or parallel (meeting at the main circuit)? I want to try this, but...
