Phasing when recording DI & miked simultaneously

Oh, bass. Yeah, I've never mic'd a bass. I do love the sound of a mic'd bass though. I've known people that have mic'd a bass and combined it with the DI. I don't think phase was an issue. It was never mentioned anyway.

May I ask, what are you guys doing with your DI signal? Why do you need it? Is this electric or acoustic guitar? EDIT: I should be more clear. I know why and how to use a DI signal. I do it all the time to record my guitar tracks. What I meant was, who cares if it's out of phase? Do you...

Pro Tools Normalize Plugin for True Peak Setting?

I'm wondering the same thing. And I don't mean to start any kind of debate or anything. I'm sincerely wondering why they need to come down. If they're not distorting, it doesn't matter if they peak at -.0001, technically. As long as they don't clip. It could be because the sum of all those...

Got some great takes, but the levels are too low. Best way to fix?

I'll also admit that, despite my post above, I have never, ever, not once used "Normalize". I'm not saying one should or shouldn't. I've just never found a need to use it.

100% agree. Great post. I have no hostility towards the OP. It just looked like answers were being followed by more questions before the answers were even put to the test. Anyway, your post says it all and, speaking for myself, a better effort will be made.

Thank you. You're a good mod. Low key, no ego. That's the way it's done. ??❤️❤️

Well, Talisdude and I posted at the same time. Didn't mean to repeat what he said. :)

There are several ways to increase the volume of a track. The first that most people will suggest is to "Normalize". But, just in case you're not sure, even though those levels are a little low, they won't hinder your mixing in any way. You just might have them higher up on the faders than...

    "Fallin'"

I like the fact that you tried going out of the box, rather than playing it safe with "conventional" sounds. I'm not crazy about some of the sounds, but all together, it seems to work. I don't like the drum sound, and it seems to get lost in parts, like the chorus. The drums sound electronic...

Thank you. Yeah, there's no way I can pull off the whole medley. I wish. :) That's pretty cool. I never try to sound like them. But if I was given a choice of who I'd like to sound most like, it would be The Beatles, the greatest band in the history of Western civilization. :) :D :D...

    Indian Dream (remastered)

Oh man. Is this the kind of vibe you bring? This is awesome. I've been digging a lot of Indian and Arabic music lately. Now I come across your music. I got me some catching up to do. I love it. This tune starts mellow, but then becomes hypnotic before you realize it. Is your Soundclick page...

Thanx Guy. Is that pronounced like the word "guy"? Or is it like the French pronunciation "Gee" (Hard "G", obviously)? I live in Montreal, so I've known a lot of "Gee"s. :)
