i made a thread a while back that sought advice for making my drums. I made three drums (kick, 2 toms) and I want to thank you guys for your input on that old thread and here's a pic of my new set which I totally love and the sound is incredible. The toms are 8 ply 8x12, 8 ply 14x16, and the...
I'm making my own drums and using the tama starclassic tom mounting system but I am not using tama lugs I am using mapex lugs, so what I need to know is the distance between the rod that screws into the lug and the shell of the drum. If any of you could give me a measurement that would be...
errr...tama makes great hardware, not crazy about the shells--too thin.
errr...pearl...good maple drums...not crazy about the hardware or the fact that it's hard to custom order them.
errr...DW...very nice drums...bulky looking hardware on the toms though. Seem to be overpriced...
how come I never hear anything about audix mics on these boards?
I have d1, d2, d3, and d4...plenty of them and I absolutely love them, although I like a beta 52 better on kick than the d4, however d4 rules on floor toms. for live sound, the om-5 will put down the beta 58.
are you guys...
okay...i know a lot of you are recommending wavelab over t-racks. I got both of them and I think i achieve best results using both of them.
t-racks is a mastering software with an interface based on analog mastering equipment.
wavelab is a WAVE EDITOR. Since I can't locate limiter or eq...
I want my snare to sound like the snare on "the missing pieces (new version)" at:
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/154/nothing_to_lose2.html
it's the first song. I've heard this snare sound in lots of other bands. How do they get it? Is there a special head to use? Is sounds like it's...
I've heard that you need to let tubes "warm up" to get the best possible sound..you know, like in tube guitar amps. My question is, with t-racks, do you have to let those little tubes on the screen warm up before you start mastering?
Okay, are there any drum modules out there where I can load up a sample of my own? I wanna sample my snare...is there a drum module out there that has an input for recording your own samples?
Okay, I am thinking about gettting one of them alesis HD24. I have a couple of questions.
What is the highest sampling rate and bitrate I can record and still get 24 tracks out of the thing?
I'm guessing 24 bit at 48khz. is this right?
Does the Mackie hard disk recorder record at 96 and 24...
I heard that for every foot of cable, you lose 1db of gain. Is this true? If it were, how come I don't have to crank the gain on my preamps when I use a 100ft snake? Seems there would be a 100db decrease.
anyone else ever heard this old wives tale?

What do you guys think? It is mastered using t-racks. T-racks seems to dirty the mix up. I kinda like that sound, but then I don't. I guess the only way to get around this is $
Hey guys. I don't have a-o-hell anymore and I would like to know if you know any free web space providers. I just want like 10mb of space to post mp3s samples for my studio.
